  8.                          AST MONOCHROME VGA MONITORS

  11. PROBLEM:       When using the AST Monochrome VGA monitor near fluorescent
  12.                lighting, the display may flicker slightly, especially when
  13.                turning on fluorescent lights.
  14.  
  15. CAUSE:         The flicker is caused by the frequency difference between the
  16.                fluorescent light (60Hz) and the scanning frequency of the
  17.                monitor (50Hz).
  18.  
  19. AFFECTED
  20. SYSTEMS:       AST Monochrome VGA monitors.

  22.  
  23. SOLUTION:      It is recommended that any fluorescent lighting, such as that
  24.                found in modular workstations, be located at least 20" or more
  25.                from the rear of the monitor to prevent flickering.
