  8.            AST PREMIUM/386 TOWER EISA DETECTING RAM MEMORY AT 512K
  9.

  11. PROBLEM:       When the system is configured with 512K of base memory the
  12.                system BIOS may incorrectly identify LAN cards RAM memory as
  13.                system memory.  This problem will occur when the LAN card RAM
  14.                has a starting address of 512K.
  15.  
  16.                When the system is re-booted via CNTL-ALT-DEL the following
  17.                error message is displayed:

  19.                [20.30] Memory size error - Run EISA config utility.

  21. AFFECTED
  22. SYSTEMS:       Premium/386 Tower EISA system board with the following part
  23.                number:
  24.  
  25.                202377-002 Revision "D" and below.
  26.  
  27. CAUSE:         System BIOS incorrectly testing memory in the
  28.                512K - 640K range.
  29.  
  30. SOLUTION:      This problem has been resolved with a new release of the
  31.                system BIOS.  Customers experiencing this problem should have
  32.                the system BIOS upgraded to version 1.14, see Field Change
  33.                Notice #0046B.
