  8.               SCO UNIX BOOT FAILURE WITH MEMORY EXPANSION BOARD
  9.

  11. PROBLEM:         Under SCO UNIX 3.2 version 2.0, system will hang
  12.                  intermittently during boot if memory expansion board is
  13.                  present, AST part number 202387-001.
  14.  
  15. AFFECTED
  16. SYSTEM BOARDS:   All system boards with the following part numbers:
  17.  
  18.                  202356-004 and 202360-001
  19.  
  20. CAUSE:           During UNIX installation the software will check for known
  21.                  devices and will activate a driver for that device.  UNIX
  22.                  mistakenly identifies a device that is not present, and
  23.                  activates a driver for it.  This causes the system to hang,
  24.                  with the following error message:

  26.                  WDHA-OUT: command byte 01 rejected
  27.                  WDHA-OUT: command byte 07 rejected
  28.  
  29. SOLUTION:        The new release of SCO UNIX 3.2 version 3.0 resolves this
  30.                  problem and is scheduled to be released by SCO in July,
  31.                  1991.

  33.                  NOTE: A temporary solution would be to slow the system down
  34.                        during the boot process, and resume normal speed after
  35.                        completion of boot sequence, which would be the login
  36.                        prompt.  This can be accomplished by using the <CTRL>
  37.                        <ALT> <DOWN ARROW> and <CTRL> <ALT> <UP ARROW>
  38.                        sequence.  For further information on speed commands,
  39.                        please refer to your systems user manual.
