  1.    ACTIVE KEYS DURING GROUND TRACK DISPLAY
  2.    ---------------------------------------
  3.  
  4.         The following table lists the various keys which are active when the 
  5.    tracking display is shown on the screen. Some of these features are more 
  6.    fully described elsewhere.
  7.  
  8.       ENTER  Return to Main Menu (cancel the simulation).
  9.  
  10.          F1  On-line HELP. Press F1 to display a help screen in the lower 
  11.              portion of the screen. Press F1 again to resume normal data 
  12.              display.
  13.  
  14.          F2  Selects the Big Clock mode. These modes are selected in the 
  15.              following order:
  16.  
  17.                   0    No clock displayed
  18.                   1    UTC date and time
  19.                   2    Local date and time
  20.                   3    STN/TDRS AOS/LOS and MET or T+Epoch (select with F5)
  21.  
  22.              Note that not all computers (especially older CGA systems) will 
  23.              display the extended graphics characters used for the large clock 
  24.              characters. The symptom of this problem is that the lower left 
  25.              portion of the data block is mostly blank after pressing F2. If 
  26.              you have this problem and your computer is running DOS 3.x or DOS 
  27.              5.0, enter the command "GRAFTABL" at the DOS prompt before 
  28.              running STSPLUS or include the line "GRAFTABL" in your 
  29.              AUTOEXEC.BAT file; this sets the "code page" to enable the 
  30.              computer to display the extended graphics characters. [The 
  31.              program GRAFTABL.COM is included as part of DOS in most cases.]
  32.  
  33.          F3  Enable or disable printer logging. If logging is enabled, the 
  34.              word LOG appears in the lower right of the screen. Be sure the 
  35.              printer is turned on BEFORE using the L command. The "L" command 
  36.              automatically enables the display of ascending and descending 
  37.              node information.
  38.  
  39.          F4  Toggle FAST mode from x1 to x10 to x60 to x1, etc. When either of 
  40.              the fast modes is enabled, "(x10)" or "(x60)" will appear at the 
  41.              upper right of the data block in red. This feature operates in 
  42.              both the normal (real or simulated time) and PAUSE modes. When 
  43.              x10 or x60 fast modes are used, automatic map generation is 
  44.              disabled; use the TAB key to restore automatic map generation.
  45.  
  46.          F5  When using 2-line elements, the elapsed time may be switched 
  47.              between "T+Epoch" and "MET" by using the "T" command. If no 
  48.              launch time and date have been entered, this command will have no 
  49.              effect.
  50.  
  51.          F6  Enable PAUSE mode. The plot is frozen at the current position and 
  52.              the "+" and "-" keys are enabled. (The "=" key may be used 
  53.              instead of the "+" key to avoid use of the SHIFT KEY.) Press 
  54.              ENTER to resume normal operation.
  55.  
  56.          F7  Enable or disable the spacecraft circle of visibility.
  57.  
  58.          F8  Enable or disable the SUN, solar terminator, and spacecraft 
  59.              lighting feature. NOTE: The SUN and spacecraft lighting are not 
  60.              available on CGA systems.
  61.  
  62.          F9  Change units of distance between kilometers (km) and nautical 
  63.              miles (NM).
  64.  
  65.         F10  Change satellite coordinates between Altitude and Azimuth, Right 
  66.              Ascension and Declination, and Geocentric Rectangular (XYZ) 
  67.              systems.
  68.  
  69.           +  During PAUSE mode only, moves the satellite to the NEXT 
  70.              calculated position based upon the FAST mode then in effect: 
  71.              simulated time is advanced 1, 10, or 60 seconds. (NOTE: The "=" 
  72.              key may be used instead of "+" to avoid the SHIFT KEY.)

  74.           -  During PAUSE mode only, moves the satellite to the PREVIOUS 
  75.              calculated position based upon the FAST mode then in effect: 
  76.              simulated time is backed up 1, 10, or 60 seconds.
  77.  
  78.              NOTE: Since this "-" or reverse feature was implemented primarily 
  79.              for testing and demonstration, the ground track logic does not 
  80.              recognize these reverse movements and may become slightly 
  81.              confused. To restore the ground track properly, press ENTER TWICE 
  82.              to stop the display and then to resume the mission.
  83.  
  84.         TAB  Enable or disable automatic map generation. Automatic map 
  85.              generation is ALWAYS enabled in orthographic modes. When 
  86.              automatic map generation is enabled in rectangular map modes, the 
  87.              letter "A" will appear in the upper right of the display screen. 
  88.              Pressing the TAB key will always cause the map to be redrawn.
  89.  
  90.        PgUp  When in one of the zoom modes, increases the field of view up to 
  91.              a maximum of 180 degrees. Press rapidly to execute multiple zoom 
  92.              steps without redrawing the map for each keypress.
  93.  
  94.        PgDn  When in one of the zoom modes, decreases the field of view down 
  95.              to a minimum of 45 degrees. Press rapidly to execute multiple 
  96.              zoom steps without redrawing the map for each keypress.
  97.  
  98.        Home  When in one of the zoom modes, returns the field of view to 75 
  99.              degrees.
  100.  
  101.         End  When in one of the zoom modes, returns the field of view to the 
  102.              last zoom factor used prior to pressing the HOME key.
  103.  
  104.           B  Toggle the BLINK mode of the satellite symbol between blinking 
  105.              and steady.
  106.  
  107.           O  Select Orthographic Projection (the LETTER "O" not the digit 
  108.              zero). PgUp, PgDn, Home, and End are active to select the 
  109.              magnification.
  110.  
  111.         W,0  Select World Map display, showing the full world from +85 degrees 
  112.              North latitude to -85 degrees South latitude using rectangular 
  113.              projection. If automatic map generation is disabled, pressing "W" 
  114.              or "0" will toggle between the two world map displays.
  115.  
  116.           Q  Select Quadrant Map display, showing 180 degrees field of view 
  117.              (rectangular projection) and selected so as to approximately 
  118.              center the satellite.
  119.  
  120.          1-9 Select the indicated Quadrant Map. Automatic map generation is 
  121.          !@# disabled when a specific quadrant map is selected. See the chart
  122.              in the section Quadrant Maps for the map numbers.
  123.  
  124.           Z  Select Zoom Map display, showing from 180 to 45 degrees field of 
  125.              view (rectangular projection) and selected so as to approximately 
  126.              center the satellite. The default is 75 degrees.
  127.  
  128.           L  Select Location Map display, showing concentric isocontours for 
  129.              your location. If a second location has been enabled, press "L" 
  130.              again for that location.
  131.  
  132.           T  Tracking Station Map display, showing concentric isocontours for 
  133.              the tracking station closest to the current ground track position 
  134.              of the satellite (rectangular projection). Uses the data in the 
  135.              current TRACKING STATION file to select the tracking station(s); 
  136.              if the file is not found, STSPLUS defaults to an internal set of 
  137.              tracking stations. Use F7 from the Main Menu to select the 
  138.              TRACKING STATION filename.
  139.  
  140.           M  Satellite Motion Map display, available on EGA and VGA systems 
  141.              only. Displays a map with the satellite centered using the map 
  142.              projection in effect when the key is pressed. In rectangular 
  143.              modes, the map is shown in zoom. Maps are drawn "off screen" and 
  144.              a complete map is always displayed. The map is updated every 10 
  145.              seconds or as rapidly as the computer processor will permit. 
  146.              While the Satellite Motion Map is displayed, the following keys 
  147.              are active: ENTER, "M", "Home", "End", "PgUp", and "PgDn"; these 
  148.              keys perform the same functions as during the normal display 
  149.              except that the "M" key cancels the Satellite Motion Map and 
  150.              returns to normal display.
