  9. DETAILED PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

  11.     The program, simply stated, produces a commercial quality printout
  12.     of "What Happened The Day You Were Born?"
  13.     This formerly commercial program was developed by the author, Ken
  14.     Kirkpatrick, as a retail venture. The unique printout about life and
  15.     times of the recipient's birthdate makes a fun, inexpensive gift.
  16.             
  17.     The program is unique, to my knowledge, on the shareware or public
  18.     domain market, and has no peer. All the information in the vast
  19.     database was manually entered by the author from a vast array of
  20.     public sources. It is NOT a rip-off of someone else's data!
  21.     As a commercial program, it is designed to be fast and foolproof,
  22.     and is thoroughly error-trapped for even the most novice user.
  23.     It requires little or no instruction on its use and the program
  24.     intent and flow is self-evident.

  26.     The program printout has been sold by the author's family business
  27.     for the last four years for $2.50 each, and we have sold thousands!
  28.     For commercial sale of the printout, the use of specialty graphic
  29.     paper available to registered users only GREATLY enhances the end
  30.     product.

  32.     The program database is updated yearly by the author right after the
  33.     Academy Awards for the past year. Updates are available to registered
  34.     users.

  36.     Included with "Your Birthday Almanac" is a copy of "The Anniversary
  37.     Almanac" or "What Happened the Day You Were Married", a companion
  38.     program that uses the same database. Its nature is self-explanatory.

  40. WHO IS THE INTENDED USER?
  41.  
  42.     The program primarily targets entrepreneurs that want to sell the
  43.     printout commercially in their shops or at swap meets or street fairs,
  44.     etc. Clubs and organizations also use the program to send unique
  45.     birthday wishes to their members.
  46.     The program has also been used by individuals who have a lot of
  47.     friends and relatives, and want to dazzle them with something 
  48.     other than the usual birthday card!

  50. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM:

  52.     This is the only program of its type on the shareware market to the
  53.     author's knowledge.
  54.     The program is EXTREMELY EASY TO USE with no needless whistles and
  55.     bells. It has been thoroughly tested for four years on a commercial
  56.     basis and has no known bugs. It is written in Visual Basic for DOS.

  59. PROGRAMS CAPACITY OR LIMITATIONS:
  60.  
  61.     As a shareware product, we have delivered a fully functional product
  62.     to the end user. The program utlizes the end-user's name in the
  63.     printout, and is embedded into the source code from the author upon
  64.     registration. The program contains an opening shareware screen with
  65.     the ability for the end-user to register the product. The end-product
  66.     printout will, of course, be printed on plain white paper for the
  67.     try-before-you-buy-customer, but the database is fully functional
  68.     with every date back to Jan. 01,1900.

  70. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  71.  
  72.     DOS 3.3 or better
  73.     512K, A LaserJet II or III COMPATIBLE laser printer (most lasers are HP
  74.     compatible) OR an HP Deskjet500. The program WILL NOT WORK WITH
  75.     DOT MATRIX PRINTERS. A hard disk with 1 meg free available space.

  77. HOW TO START THE PROGRAM:
  78.  
  79.     The program may come in a distribution file called BORN205.ZIP. 
  80.     After unzipping the file,run INSTALL.EXE.
  81.     This will create a subdirectory    on the end user's hard-disk or
  82.     ram-disk of choice called "ALMANAC".
  83.     The install program will un-arc the database and place it in the
  84.     ALMANAC sub-directory. Upon conclusion, INSTALL will dump the end-
  85.     user into the almanac subdirectory. The end-user simply types
  86.     BIRTHDAY.EXE for "Your Birthday Almanac" or WEDDING.EXE for "The
  87.     Anniversary Almanac" The program flow is intuitive and easy!

  93.     $25.00  for the yearly updates to database postpaid in the USA
