  1. CALENDAR MATE 4.2c - Released 01Feb93

  3. There are a number of changes to Calendar Mate that have not found their
  4. way into the documentation. These may be found in the file CHANGES.DOC
  5. on the distribution diskette. Please read it or print it so that you are
  6. aware of all the fine features of Calendar Mate.

  11. When you run Calendar Mate, make sure that there is enough space on
  12. your disk to contain two copies of the events file. You can determine
  13. this by switching to the disk and subdirectory where Calendar Mate
  14. resides, typing DIR, and noting the size of CALEVENT.CME and the number
  15. of free bytes on the disk.
  16.  
  17. If there is not enough space, Calendar Mate will inadvertantly destroy
  18. the events file and/or the parms file. Users particularly exposed to
  19. this unhappy possibility are those running Calendar Mate from a 360K
  20. floppy disk. If you must run in this environment, make a copy of the
  21. disk (for backup purposes) and delete the documentation file from the
  22. diskette you will be using.  That will provide ample space.

  25. To install Calendar Mate on a hard drive:
  26.  
  27. 1) Create a new subdirectory on your hard disk with the commands
  28.     C:
  29.     CD \
  30.     MD CALMATE4
  31.  
  32. 2) Copy the contents of the distribution disk to this new subdirectory
  33.    COPY  A:*.*  C:\CALMATE4
  34.  
  35. 3) Run the setup program to choose the appropriate print driver,
  36.    calendar language, date format and program window colours. Type in
  37.  
  38.    CD \CALMATE4
  39.    CALSETUP

  42. To install Calendar Mate on a floppy disk system:
  43.  
  44. 1) Copy the contents of the distribution diskette to a fresh diskette.
  45.    Put the distribution diskette in the A drive, a fresh diskette in
  46.    the B drive (if you have one) and type in
  47.  
  48.    DISKCOPY A: B:
  49.  
  50.    If you only have one floppy drive, you will be prompted to switch
  51.    disks periodically. Remember that the 'source disk' is the CALENDAR
  52.    MATE distribution diskette and the 'target disk' is the fresh diskette.

  54. 2) Run the setup program to choose the appropriate print driver,
  55.    calendar language, date format and program window colours. Put
  56.    the newly copied diskette in the A drive and type in
  57.  
  58.    A:
  59.    CALSETUP

  63. When you run CALSETUP, it is absolutely CRUCIAL that you are in the
  64. same subdirectory as all the other CALENDAR MATE files otherwise
  65. unpredictable results will occur.

  67. After CALSETUP has executed, type in CALENDAR to start Calendar Mate.
  68.

  71. If you are migrating version 4.0 of Calendar Mate, you simply have to
  72. rename your parms file and help file as follows:
  73.  
  74. RENAME CALHELP.DAT *.CH4
  75. RENAME CALPARM.DAT *.CP4
  76.  
  77. Also, copy all the print drivers from the distribution disk and the
  78. calendar program:
  79.  
  80. COPY A:*.PRD
  81. COPY A:CALENDAR.EXE
  82.  
  83. From now on, the file extension of the Calendar Mate files will reflect
  84. the release number.
  85.  
  86. If you are currently running an earlier version of Calendar Mate,
  87. (other than 4.0) please note that the format of everything has changed;
  88. the event file, the parms file and the print drivers are all incompatible
  89. with different versions and you MUST run SETUP to convert the data files.

  93. If you have print problems, read on...
  94.  
  95. 1) If you are using the EPSONLQ print driver or the IBMPROPR print
  96. driver and are getting a '1' in the top left corner of the monthly
  97. calendar, switch to the IBMPPNO1 print driver (option 5.1.1).
  98.  
  99. 2) If you are getting a couple of lines on the monthly calendar skipping
  100. a character and getting out of alignment, you are probably trying to
  101. print the happy face characters for the lunar cycle and your printer
  102. cannot print them. When it encounters that character it doesn't print
  103. anything, not even a space, and the rest of the line gets out of
  104. alignment. To fix this, go into option 5.2 and change the 'Lunar Cycle'
  105. field to 'L' or 'N'.
  106.  
  107. 3) If you are getting italic C's, D's and 3's around the borders of the
  108. calendars instead of nice lines, and you have a laser printer, there is
  109. no known fix.
  110.
