RIP Gallery v2.1
written by Kevin Martin
(c) 1993 by Beakware Software
DISCLAIMER:
==========
RIP Gallery should in no way harm your computer hardware or software.
At worst, you may have to re-boot your system due to lockup (only
if I missed checking for one of the many different scenarios that
users can create).
Beakware Software, and it's affiliates both expressed and implied,
are in no way responsible for any loss due to, or related to, the
use or misuse of the RIP Gallery software.
Use of RIP Gallery henceforth is an assent to this disclaimer.
You use the Adult Only access feature of RIP Gallery at your own risk.
NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
WHAT IS:
=======
RIP Gallery is a Door that allows callers with a RIP compatible
term program (i.e. RIPTerm) to browse through an art gallery of
RIP pictures. You can set up up to 15 libraries to organize your
pictures into. Only 2 libraries are allowed in the un-
registered version of RIP Gallery. I am unsure how RIP Gallery will
work in a multi-line environment. If it works, or has problems I
would be interested in hearing from you. It should work.
RIP Gallery will work with any BBS that meets the following criteria:
Generate any of the following drop files:
PCBOARD.SYS DOOR.SYS
USERS.SYS CALLINFO.BBS
USERINFO.DAT SFDOORS.DAT
GTUSER.DAT TRIBBS.SYS
DORINFOx.DEF
MSDOS of PCDOS 3.1 or higher.
Even if your BBS software does not support RIP, this door should
still work for you and your callers with a RIP terminal should be
good to go!
HOW TO:
======
1. Decide where you want to setup your RIP library.
Suggested:
c:\doors\ripgal\
c:\doors\ripgal\general\
c:\doors\ripgal\holiday\
c:\doors\ripgal\computer\
2. Unzip the RIPGALXX.ZIP archive into the directory that you plan
keep your *.RIP pictures. (c:\doors\ripgal\ in our example)
3. Edit the sample configuration file included in the archive
named ripgal.CFG.
The format for this is:
PATH TO DROP FILE (i.e.. DOOR.SYS)
BBS NAME
SYSOP FIRST NAME
SYSOP LAST NAME
KEY
LIBRARY NAME 1
LIBRARY PATH 1
LIBRARY NAME 2
LIBRARY PATH 2
.
.
LIBRARY PATH 15
EXAMPLE:
C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\DOOR.SYS
The Sports Wire BBS
Kevin
Martin
53093 <----a number of some sort
General Pictures
C:\DOORS\RIPGAL\GENERAL\ <----note back slash!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holiday
C:\DOORS\RIPGAL\HOLIDAY\
Computer Related
C:\DOORS\RIPGAL\COMPUTER\
you must put some kind of number in the key spot. 0 is fine as well.
3. Create all of the sub directories and move your *.RIP scripts to
the appropriate directories.
4. Create a DOS hook or Door to run RIPGAL
Example batch file:
CD \DOORS\RIPGAL
RIPGAL RIPGAL.CFG
CD \WC30
That's all there is to setting up! If it sounds complicated it is
because I am not the greatest at writing these things and I don't
want to leave anything out.
5. The adults only feature. To make an area available for adults
only, preface the area name with an "*" Example:
*Adults Section
C:\DOORS\RIPGAL\ADULTS\
I added this feature at the request of another sysop. If you use it,
it is at your own risk. RIP Gallery will make these libraries
invisible to anyone under the age of 18. This is currently not a
configurable feature. If you would like it to be, let me know. I
will also make a 21 year version available upon request to reg-
istered users. THE ADULTS ONLY FEATURE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH A
REGISTERED KEY!!!!!!
5. Command line switches
/fd - enables fossil support.
/# - enables nonstandard IRQ's where # is the IRQ number.
Registration
============
In the unregistered version of RIP Gallery, only 2 libraries are
available. However, for the minimal fee $15.00, your conscience will
be clear to use it the any way you like and have up to 15 libraries
available giving you 1500 available RIP pictures in your Gallery!
Registration entitles users to ALL upgrades to RIP Gallery. Even
if version 25.6 comes out, it is yours. I will not send out upgrades
unless there is a LARGE bug fix. It is however always available for
file requesting via FIDOnet 1:355/20 and RIPnet! 154:805/0 by
the name of RIPGAL. You can also log onto The Sports Wire, or look
look for this file via the WDN or RFDN! filename RIPGALxx.ZIP.
Print out REGISTER.FRM for convenience!

next upgrade should deal with local users and allow you to use a
local RIP viewer like Deadview or Flatview to view pictures.
