MODLiST
3.01 93NOV07.
All .MOD modules have been run through MODCLEAN by Torben
Thellefsen, DK. Now some MB's of space have been gained as
the unused patterns & samples are stripped.
Mikkel Breiler's modulelist. 1719 modules /Circa. 950 identified.
Short guide:
Module names are changed to valid chars in the songtitle +
extension which tell of what kind of module it is. DMP
cannot play .USE, .JM & .670 mods at the moment as these
are very group oriented. (.669 (cascada) and .S3M (future
crew) are really also group specific but apparantly the
code to read them is public or Jussi & Otto are well
connected. (The latter seems closer to the truth ;-])
Longer guide for Breiler's module-list
The modules have been included in this list in the capacity
of being physically present on my PC; They all exist, and
the size is equal to full length unpacked. Some are
unplayable/unloadable which can be because (is probably due
to) the player which has got to be able to see which type
it is prior to begin playing it. Some are present in STX
type = ScreamTracker Interface Kit v0.20b (which is the
type between .STM and .S3M) and ST_ (which is between STMIK
v0.20b and .S3M) others are in .670 type (from RGBdemo) or
.USE ("Digital Matrix" demo by Legend Design) or they're
'crypted into some unreadable type (Twilight Zone, rats!
the mods are OK!) or whaduyouhave. They could also have
been tracked in a not very skilled tracker from ancient
times.
These files won't let themselves be played by DMP & PMP which are
the
PC standard today:
File Size Songtitle Author/group
COMMANDO.MOD 19130 COMMANDO ?/?
GALAXIAN.MOD 42020 GALAXIAN CLOUD ?/?
EXPRESSI.MOD 45140 EXPRESSIONS04 ?/?
Except from the above mentioned items I can only say that
this list is supplemented by a (larger) list of modules
present on BBS's but they won't appear here until I have
them and can work with the data and can check the
authenticity of them. The BBS's are mostly danish but
OUTPOST in Sweden, and a couple of finnish will be joined
soon. Just so you know I don't just stick to home
territory. I'm also on Kingdom Of Greyhawk in England,
Fantasia (home of WOW) in Germany + some others. Everytime
I get a module I can't quite identify (because of lacking
info in the mod itself or missing filecomment on the bbs I
got it from I simply consult my list of "candidates for my
collection" I examine the size, composer/group and packing
method.
AtToW:(At the Time of Writing!) Devotion BBS (SWE) is going
to be included full, as the kind sysop there will be
mailing be the entire stock worth of modules. In return
he'll have his disks back with selected material from my
large list (1700mods at 93OCT22)
Fields:
1) The name of the module in MS-DOS (yuck!) Which happens to follow
a simple rule on how to name a module in MS-DOS. (read dox for
my ADJUST util. Available as ADJUnnn.ARJ)
2) UNPACKED module size in plain bytes.
3) My name or the date of examining the mod. Or the day I ran
MODCLEAN on it e.g. "93OCT23M".
4) Modules song title when nothing is displayed it is left
unchanged. Only dosname & size (+author etc.. if available) can
determine excactly which modules we're dealing with.
5) If known: Author/Group/country/year/date/production type & title
Some time in late October i ran ModPlay (by Mark J. Cox) on my
modules and I marked modules with only 15 instruments off.

Signatures, this is maybe very good to know!
?/? means composer/group unknown.
zodiak/cascada/demo"cdaxmas" means zodiak the
composer from the cascada group (finnish) from the
"cascada's x-mas musikdisk" demo.
weird name(ordinary name) means handle(real name).
a/g/x demo"d" menas a in group b made the mod which
x used in "D". "Elementary, my dear Watson!"
Corrections and additions wanted!
Send your corrections (if e.g. you know composer x was in
group F at that time, not in group D, or something like
that perhaps) or if you're an author who'd like your
collected works published (also your adress can be
published!) then mail the mods to me, with your full name
and adress. This list may be publicized as PD, but should
in no way be seen as a catalog of what I have; I can't swap
for the rest of my life - my drive says it can't survive
that (it's a lazy sissy drive ;-) and my moneybin's a bit
light these days. Therefore I'd like anyone who's
interested to tell me what they want AND try to contact the
respective authors for more!
If you send some additions for me and write which modules
you'd like on the disks when returned then don't expect me
to grab everything I have and send it to you. The stack of
disks to return must come from you. Also if you live
outside denmark I won't send anything that amounts to over
$8. Regardless of who you are (and almost regardless of the
bribe) these are unbendable rules! ;-) AtToW: those may
even be unbearable rules, and I'll probably get some mail
about that too.
{ Hint: Send one disk more than required every 5 disks and I'll
probably mail you what ever you want!}
BTW: You got to have a serious reason for requesting a tape
backup by CPB8.00 (DO you use other software, send it along and
i'll see if it works, otherwise I'm content with CPB8.00 for
now, and that's what you're gonna get. I can _optionally_
include CPB8.00 so you'll have a chance of retrieving the data
;-) }
[I think if you are a composer and you send me disks with
your work, you'll be able to choose from my collection
until the disks you sent are filled, and then I might add
a couple of disks myself AND even include my module tools
(adjust and mod2list)]
It would be smart to UL modules of a composer onto a BBS which
already have some other by that composer, maybe even an area, as
opposed to BBS's that are for modules mostly/only where you can
UL any module they like and also expect to find players for some
of the more excotic, obscure & extreme types of modules.
Anyways this list is for everybody, but only I may edit in
it. Not because I'm particularly selfish, but because I
want the modules to get the same treatment; that is, I'd
like the composer-group and even purpose (demo, intro, invi,
comp, game, loader etc.) stated with accuracy, and also I'd
like the modules to be sent to me for my collection _:-)_,
thereby increasing the size of my collection without
leaving me with a large phonebill. If you'd like to add
something/&correct something please contact me, my adress
is at the bottom of this file.
Extensions:
MOD = 4track modules with id: "M.K.", "FLT4", "M!K!"
or "#0#0#0#0".
S3M = ScreamTracker ]I[ multi track modules (have got
4,5,8,9,12,14 track modules.
STM = ScreamTracker v2.26 compatible.
* STX = ScreamTracker Module Integration Kit 0.20Beta.
* ST_ = ScreamTracker Module Integration Kit later
versions, but before ScreamTracker ]I[ type.
* USE = Obscure type from some group (I just can't
remember who)
6CH = Ftracker 6track & compatible.
8CH = Ftracker 8track & compatible.
669 = COMPOSD from cascada, a type which with S3M
lead the way for more tracks and samples in the
modules.
* OKT = Octamed? Strictly amiga?.
* JM = Jmagic type. UltraForce?
Extensions marked with "*" can unfortunately not be played
back with DMP & PMP or GMP but maybe Jussi'n'Otto'll fix
that. ".STX" modules can be played with the demoplayer in
the STMNIK020 archive, also the C-source is in the archive.
".ST_" is a later type (before .S3M) and I don't have the
STMIK package (or know the version number) so I don't know
if there's a player available at all. And shit, yes some
demoes are using excatly this type of STM.
You can't get mod-rippers by contacting me but these are on
a lot bbs's:
SEA150.ARJ (ripper),
JMCGMRIP.ARJ (ripper),
STMTOOLS.ARJ (viewer),
MODRIP101.ARJ (ripper),
EXMOD10.ARJ (ripper)
Though I did make ADJUST (corrects the DOSname on modules
for clarity) and MOD2LIST.ARJ (gets the songtitle and
creates ASCII output to make up a list of modules (my list
I made primarily with the aid of this little util.!)) And
I'm working on an archiving utility for use with large
collections (like mine) - More on demand.
Yours truly -mb
My adress, if anyone want to mail me anything. I can Read/Write
3.5" DD->HD, 5.25" DD->HD disks & DC2000 series tapes 2120! (drive-
brand: IOmega insider 250).
And optionally get amiga disks READ at a friend's - not written too.
I can include cross dos for amiga on a seperate boot disk for you if
send the disks yourself.

Denmark,
(Or catch me these systems.
Mostly:
VELOX MUSIC BBS +45 59931075 dk music ionly bbs. Mostly
amiga but plenty of PC-players. This BBS is devoted to the
Amiga formats only - don't expect the PC formats here!
PARADIZE 9009 a cool BBS for modules and demoes with
modules.
JOSTI BBS +45 48370524 dk small Amiga section among all the
other stuff. This BBS is HUGE.
DAN BBS with 10 lines + 2 ISDN, oh yeah they're cool!
THF's Ezyboard. Where I'm to be a point in FIDOnet shortly.
Also in the world:
KINGDOM OF GREYHAWK (United Kingdom) rarely- I found the #
in a module.
MOONLIGHT BBS (Finland/S:Jussi), (Rarely these days, but
check the mod-playersection; it's huge!)
FANTASIA BBS (West-D/S:J.O.Suhr) (rarely though; too
expensive)
OUTPOST (Sweden/S:wildfire). Has got a nice range of
modules, mostly swedish modules, maybe I'll swap some of
them. Watch out!
R.A. LAW (Finland/S:Petri) Cool dude I'm to swap much with
him (demos and stuff) but when I get some modules out of
them and authenticate them they'll appear in this list.
DEVOTION (Sweden/S:) Nice place
(I'm seriously considering becoming a point. ;-)
AtToW: I'm up for Fido on THF's Ezyboard (CABiNET, too) so
it won't be long before I'm easier to write to.
[93NOV07:
2:234/127.8 should be working at the end of November.]
AtToW: latest addition to the boards in Finland is Chaotic Vision
which looks Pretty Darn Good, so good in fact I'll almost have to
move to Finland to be closer ;-)
Still reading?
Useless question really, of course you are!
Would you like to make me really happy?
Send a C=64 disk with a C=64 tracker on it. I'd like to transform the
music of *some* of the old stuff from my C=64 soon as the emulator
from Kranj, Slovakia is published. I'm hooooooked on C=64 too.
Sincerely
mikkel breiler (Sôfí)
