  47.     The V7-VEGA graphic card is a product that offers significantly
  48.     enhanced features compared to other standard VGA graphic and 
  49.     accelerator boards.
  50.  
  51.     This particularly applies to  
  52.  
  53.     - higher resolutions    and
  54.     - higher refresh rates.
  55.  
  56.  
  57.     Please be aware that you can only take full advantage of the 
  58.     features provided by the V7-VEGA, if the other components of 
  59.     your system, especially the graphic monitor that is being used,
  60.     also comply with the specifications of the V7-VEGA.
  61.   
  62.     (Example : The resolution 1280x1024 that is supported by the 
  63.     V7-VEGA can obviously not be used with a monitor that is speci-
  64.     fied to only support resolutions up to 1024x768.)

  66.     The advantages of the "VESA Local Bus" can only be used with a
  67.     V7-VEGA (VL) board, if this card is installed in a PC system
  68.     with a VESA Local Bus interface.

  75.     Usually two major steps are necessary to install the driver(s)
  76.     for a specific application.
  77.  
  78.     (1) First the driver modules must be copied from the V7-VEGA Super-
  79.     disk to the hard disk of your system.
  80.     This is done by the INSTALL program provided with the V7-VEGA
  81.     Superdisk.
  82.     Before you start INSTALL you should know in which drives and 
  83.     directories the applications are installed that you want to install
  84.     drivers for.
  85.  
  86.     - change to the V7-VEGA Superdisk and call INSTALL,
  87.     - select the language you prefer,
  88.     - and follow the instructions given by INSTALL.   
  89.  
  90.     (2) After the driver modules have been copied to the hard disk, the  
  91.     applications need to be re-configured for the new drivers. The  
  92.     User Manual provides detailed descriptions for each application
  93.     supported by the V7-VEGA.

  100.     As already mentioned above, the graphic monitor used with the
  101.     V7-VEGA must comply to the specifications of the V7-VEGA.
  102.     Only then can the full functionality of the V7-VEGA be used.

  104.     The User Manual and the file \SPEA\GDC\CLMODE provide
  105.     detailed information on how to select and modify the various
  106.     monitor parameters (resolution and refresh rates).
  107.

  110.     Please only select parameters that your monitor is specified for.
  111.     Your monitor may be seriously damaged, if it is constantly driven 
  112.     with parameters which are not within the range of its specification.
  113.     If you change your monitor you have to compare the specification
  114.     and, if necessary, to change the resolutions / refresh rates!

  118.     ║                    Known Limitations                        ║

  121.     (1) It is not possible to use two or more VGA boards in one PC at 
  122.     the same time. 
  123.     In case you want to use the V7-VEGA board in a PC that has a 
  124.     VGA interface integrated on the motherboard, then this integrated
  125.     VGA interface must be disabled before the V7-VEGA may be used.
  126.  
  127.     (2) Some applications such as Windows 3.1, and others offer 
  128.  
  129.              "Video 7 ..." display interfaces
  130.  
  131.     in their configuration programs.
  132.  
  133.     These options should NOT be selected when using the V7-VEGA.

  135.     Please follow the instructions given in the user's manual to 
  136.     guarantee that the optimum configuration for the V7-VEGA is
  137.     being installed.

  141.     ║                  Notes on Applications                      ║

  144.     Seperate README files are supplied for most application drivers
  145.     available for the V7-VEGA. These READMEs contain last-minute 
  146.     information not included in the printed documentation and infor-
  147.     mation related to known limitations.
  148.  
  149.     These README files are copied to the directory \SPEA\GDC when
  150.     the related driver has been selected for installation while
  151.     running the INSTALL program. The READMEs can be identified by
  152.     the file name extension .DOC .
  153.  
  154.     Use the command  SHOW *.DOC  from the \SPEA\GDC directory to
  155.     display the README file on your screen.
  156.

  167.         The monitor adjusting program CLMODE.EXE that you got with the 
  168.         superdisk is a newer version than the version that is described 
  169.         in the manual.
  170.         Using this new CLMODE it is not only possible to select monitor 
  171.         types as described in the manual but also to define refresh rates 
  172.         for each resolution by yourself. Beside this you have now the 
  173.         possibility to test the chosen adjustments via test screen for 
  174.         proper function with your monitor.
