  1.       INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR OS/2 2.1 256 COLORS BLITTER DRIVER
  2.                    FOR CIRRUS LOGIC'S GD542X CHIPS

  5. Install from floppy diskette:
  6. -----------------------------
  7. 1. insert display driver disk one (labelled DISP 1) in a floppy drive 
  8.  
  9. 2. invoke an OS/2 window session or an OS/2 full screen session
  10.  
  11. 3. change to the floppy drive with the display driver disk, e.g. a:
  12.  
  13. 4. run clinst21.cmd from the floppy drive, e.g. clinst21 c
  14.  
  15. 5. check the 'Primary Display' check box from the DISPLAY DRIVER INSTALL
  16.    dialog box
  17.  
  18. 6. select Cirrus Logic Blitter Driver from the PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER TYPE
  19.    dialog box
  20.  
  21. 7. click OK to MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY dialog box or
  22.    type c:\utils\clmode.exe m5 after selecting the 'Install Using
  23.    Display Adapter Utility Program' option
  24.  
  25. 8. select the display resolution of choice from the SELECT DISPLAY RESOLUTION
  26.    list box
  27.  
  28. 9. click the 'Install' button in the SOURCE DIRECTORY dialog box and follow
  29.    prompts
  30.  
  31. Note: During installation, the target file may have a newer date than the
  32.    source file, select the 'Yes' button when the installation program display
  33.    a dialog box to notify the user of this situation.

  36. Install from the hard drive:
  37. ----------------------------
  38. 1. xcopy display driver disk one to the hard drive, target directory
  39.    must be named DISP_1, e.g. xcopy a: c:\disp_1
  40.  
  41. 2. invoke an OS/2 window session or an OS/2 full screen session
  42.  
  43. 3. change to \disp_1 directory, run clinst21.cmd, e.g. clinst21 c
  44.  
  45. 4. check the 'Primary Display' check box from the DISPLAY DRIVER INSTALL
  46.    dialog box
  47.  
  48. 5. select Cirrus Logic Blitter Driver from PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER TYPE
  49.    dialog box
  50.  
  51. 6. click OK to MONITOR CONFIGURATION/SELECTION UTILITY dialog box or
  52.    type c:\utils\clmode.exe m5 after selecting the 'Install Using
  53.    Display Adapter Utility Program' option

  55. 7. select the display resolution of choice from the SELECT DISPLAY RESOLUTION

  68. Additional notes:
  69. -----------------
  70. dspinstl.exe calls svga.exe to identify the SVGA chip before proceeding with
  71. installation.  The svga.exe shipped with OS/2 2.1 does not recognize GD5428.
  72. clinst21.cmd will update svga.exe before calling dspinstl.exe so that GD5428
  73. will be identified.  Subsequent installation of Cirrus display drivers or
  74. modification of display resolutions can be performed using the dspinstl.exe
  75. directly.
