  21. A) Properties of the Driver
  22. ===========================
  23.    This driver supports the following resolutions and color depth in the
  24.    OS/2 Workplace Shell:
  25.       640 * 480  * 256 colors
  26.       800 * 600  * 256 colors
  27.      1024 * 768  * 256 colors
  28.      1152 * 870  * 256 colors
  29.      1280 * 1024 * 256 colors (2)
  30.      1600 *1200  * 256 colors (2)
  31.       640 * 480  * 64k colors
  32.       800 * 600  * 64k colors
  33.      1024 * 768  * 64k colors (2)
  34.       640 * 480  * 16M colors (1) (3)
  35.       800 * 600  * 16M colors (1) (2)

  37.   (1) AVI file playback are not supported.
  38.   (2) only with 2Mb memory available.
  39.   (3) seamless windows only available with 2Mb memory.

  41.    The BigWin driver can be installed in the Windows Session in all available
  42.    resolutions and also with color depth higher than 256 colors.
  43.    Also if the BigWin is configured in another resolution than the OS/2
  44.    environment it is possible to switch between both surfaces without
  45.    any problems.

  47. B) Requirements for Installation
  48. ================================
  49.    OS/2 has to be installed and runs with standard VGA driver or and older
  50.    BigBlue driver with the V7-MIRAGE P-64 V board in the OS/2 environment as
  51.    well.
  52.    Note: You need the V7-MIRAGE P-64 V "Drivers for Windows" Disk for the
  53.    installation.

  56. C) Installation of the OS/2 Drivers
  57. ===================================
  58. 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
  59.    Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy a name this disk "V7-MIRAGE P-64 V
  60.    BigBlue".
  61.    A disk label is NOT necessary any longer.
  62.  
  63. 2. Start OS/2.
  64.    Important: before beginning the installation shut down any running
  65.    OS/2 and Windows programs!
  66.    Open a fullscreen session or an OS/2 window. Put the disk labelled
  67.    "V7-MIRAGE P-64 V BigBlue" in drive A: and enter:
  68.       A:\V7SETOS2
  69.    (Only for floppy disk installation, does not apply to CD ROM install.)

  71.    Follow the instructions on the screen and if unsure at any point,
  72.    call the online help.

  74.    After terminating the program and restarting OS/2 you have access to
  75.    the OS/2 desktop and seamless Windows with the BigBlue driver and
  76.    to Windows via the BigWin driver in the resolution and color depth
  77.    that you selected.

  80. D) Changing the resolution under OS/2 or Win-OS/2
  81. =================================================
  82. After you have installed BigBlue a new folder named "SPEA/V7" will be
  83. created on your desktop with the V7SETOS2 program icon. After starting
  84. this program you can change the resolution or color depth before restarting
  85. your system to initialize the changes.

  87. Note the following if you wish to use a different resolution under Win-OS/2
  88. as opposed to the OS/2 desktop.
  89. 1. Deactivate the checkbox 'Use settings in Win-OS/2 fullscreen session'.
  90. 2. Start Win-OS/2. Select the options 'File' and 'Run' in the Program
  91.    Manager. Then enter V7SETUP' without a path or drive. After starting
  92.    the program make the changes for your Win-OS/2 session in the same
  93.    way as under V7SETOS2.

  95.    Note: V7SETUP for Windows can't be started as a seamless window
  96.    application.

  98. E) Known Restrictions
  99. =====================
  100. Videoplayer:
  101.    If you change to a fullscreen session whilst running a video then text
  102.    will be displayed in black on blak. Switching from digital video to
  103.    fullscreen windows can cause the system to crash.
  104.  
  105. SPtune:
  106.    User modes (tuned modes) are currently not supported. They are not shown
  107.    in V7SETOS2 but are used and running if set under SPtune.
  108.  
  109. SPEAview:
  110.    SPEAview should not be used under Win-OS2.
