  20. A) Properties of the Driver
  21. ===========================
  22.    This driver supports the following resolutions and color depth in the
  23.    OS/2 Workplace Shell:
  24.       640 * 480  * 256 colors
  25.       800 * 600  * 256 colors
  26.      1024 * 768  * 256 colors
  27.      1280 * 1024 * 256 colors (Only with 2 MB videoram!)
  28.       640 * 480  * 64k colors
  29.       800 * 600  * 64k colors                            (*)
  30.      1024 * 768  * 64k colors (Only with 2 MB videoram!)

  32.   (*)  In these resolutions Seamless Windows is only supported by
  33.        V7-MIRAGE boards with 2 MB videoram.

  35.    The BigWin driver can be installed in the Windows Session in all available
  36.    resolutions and also with color depth higher than 256 colors.
  37.    Also if the BigWin is configured in another resolution than the OS/2
  38.    environment it is possible to switch between both surfaces without
  39.    any problems.

  41. B) Requirements for Installation
  42. ================================
  43.    OS/2 has to be installed and runs with standard VGA driver or and older
  44.    BigBlue driver with the V7-MIRAGE board in the OS/2 environment as
  45.    well.
  46.    Note: You need the V7-MIRAGE "Drivers for Windows" Disk for the
  47.    installation.

  50. C) Installation of the OS/2 Drivers
  51. ===================================
  52. 1. (Only when drivers are downloaded from mailbox)
  53.    Extract the files to an 1.44MB floppy a name this disk "V7-MIRAGE
  54.    BigBlue".
  55.    A disk label is NOT necessary any longer.
  56.  
  57. 2. Start OS/2.
  58.    Important: before beginning the installation shut down any running
  59.    OS/2 and Windows programs!
  60.    Open a fullscreen session or an OS/2 window. Put the disk labelled
  61.    "V7-MIRAGE BigBlue" in drive A: and enter:
  62.       A:\V7SETOS2
  63.    (Only for floppy disk installation, does not apply to CD ROM install.)
  64.  
  65.    Follow the instructions on the screen and if unsure at any point,
  66.    call the online help.
  67.  
  68.    After terminating the program and restarting OS/2 you have access to
  69.    the OS/2 desktop and seamless Windows with the BigBlue driver and
  70.    to Windows via the BigWin driver in the resolution and color depth
  71.    that you selected.

  74. D) Changing the resolution under OS/2 or Win-OS/2
  75. =================================================
  76. After you have installed BigBlue a new folder named "SPEA/V7" will be
  77. created on your desktop with the V7SETOS2 program icon. After starting
  78. this program you can change the resolution or color depth before restarting
  79. your system to initialize the changes.

  81. Note the following if you wish to use a different resolution under Win-OS/2
  82. as opposed to the OS/2 desktop.
  83. 1. Deactivate the checkbox 'Use settings in Win-OS/2 fullscreen session'.
  84. 2. Start Win-OS/2. Select the options 'File' and 'Run' in the Program
  85.    Manager. Then enter V7SETUP' without a path or drive. After starting
  86.    the program make the changes for your Win-OS/2 session in the same
  87.    way as under V7SETOS2.

  89.    Note: V7SETUP for Windows can't be started as a seamless window
  90.    application.

  92. E) Known Restrictions
  93. =====================
  94. V7SETOS2:
  95.    It is possible to select True Color modes in V7SETOS2 but the system starts
  96.    only in 640*480*256 colors.

  98. SPEAview:
  99.    SPEAview doesn't work unter OS/2.
  100.  
  101. Videoplayer:
  102.    If you change to a fullscreen session whilst running a video then text
  103.    will be displayed in black on blak. Switching from digital video to
  104.    fullscreen windows can cause the system to crash.
  105.  
  106. SPtune:
  107.    User modes (tuned modes) are currently not supported. They are not shown
  108.    in V7SETOS2 but are used and running if set under SPtune.
