Welcome to a new release of the Eagleplayer
---------------------------------------------
Some notes to this release.
The facility to load crunched Eagleplayers and Userprograms has been
added again BUT MAKE SURE TO DELETE THE FILES "XFD_FIMP_LHLIB_XPK.Slave"
and "XFD_ATN!_LHLib_XPK.Slave", those have a wrong address handling causing
Enforcer hits, crashes on 68000 machines and Multitasking jamming on
accelerated Amigas.
Using the default settings the Eagleplayer requires utilizes the "Playerbatch"-
Function. This function doesn`t load the external replayers until a module
of a kind requiering an external player to play is selected. The required
player is recognized by the prefix or suffix of the module`s name e.g. "MDAT."
before a module makes the Eagleplayer load the TFMX replayers to play the
module. You can easily change the recognized Filetypes since the batchfile
is a simple ASCII one. The little disadvantage of this method is that a file
which doesn`t have a matching name won`t be recognized as soundmodule but
if you name your modules correctly it shouldn`t matter at all.
If you dislike this memory and loading time saving powerful function you
only have to cut 3 lines in the configuration file which set the Playerbatch
functions or you load the Eagleplayer, disable "Eject Players" and "Use EPbatch",
save the Config and start the Eagleplayer again. But you have been warned,
this method needs a lot of memory (>800KB more) when you use all external
replayers. To save memory you can delete unused external replayers or user-
programs or put them into other directories since I don`t think that every
user has got modules in over 100 formats.
Same with the userprograms. Only install those you can use in the
unregistered version and which you can afford to install with your amount
of available memory. (HiFi-System looks quite nice but needs 100KB!, remember
that) Make use of the "Userprograms-Batch" facilities when you are registered.
In this case you can load userprograms using only a simple mouseclick,
remove them from memory by closing it`s window and only the active
userprograms are loaded at startup to save memory and of coz also the time
needed to load them.
In "Novice" Mode only the Userprograms are installed using the included
commodores Installer script which you are able to use with a registered
or unregistered version.
According to this topic read Chapter 4.4 of the Eagleplayer documentation as
well.
Hint: There could be problems with the installer utility supplied with
kickstart 3.x due to the fact that this one is not completely font
sensitive. Just set topaz 8 as default fonts or use the kickstart 1.3
compatible installer utility to be found within the commodore installer
package. (available e.g. on Aminet or the Fish PD Series) Maybe you have to
change the path in the install icon to "sys:utilities/installer" or
"C:installer" if the Workbench cannot find the Commodore installer utility.
Please note: Eagleplayer is Shareware. If you really like this tool feel
free to get even more nice features by registering. Just fill
the orderform (to be found in the guide file chapter 2.6) and
send it to one of us or our registration site(s). The
registration fee is DM20, USD $20 or UK £10. We don`t mind you
when you use the unregistered version but with your
registration you can help us developing further versions of
this (great) program.
