292Leukoplakia--Thickened, hardened, white patch on the cheek or tongue. If the patch develops in the mouth of a smoker as the body's natural protection against the heat of tobacco smoke, the condition is referred to as smoker's keratosis or snuff keratosis. This may be a precancerous lesion.
