Maxmimum MODS - Volume 1
========================
Thank you for purchasing Maximum MODS. On this CD-ROM you will find over
4,200 music MOD files. We have provided a friendly front end menu program
for both the Amiga and PC compatibles as well as a selection of public
domain or shareware MOD players for each platform.
Maximum MODS is unique from other MOD compilations. First, all files are
uncompressed and ready to run directly from the CD-ROM, no decompression
(unarcing or unzipping) is necessary. Second, we have worked hard to prevent
duplicate files. Because most MODS are created by individuals and
distributed through BBSs they are often renamed or modified slightly and
reposted. If you look at any other MOD collection you will find that there
are usually lots of duplicate files. We wrote programs to analyze each MOD
and search for duplications. We may not have found all the duplicates, but
there should be substantially less than other collections.
All the MODS on this CD-ROM have been obtained from public sources (BBSs,
the Internet) and other collections. To the best of our knowledge all the
files are freely distributable. You can give these files to friends or use
this CD-ROM on a BBS, but you may not distribute the entire collection as a
whole.
The various player programs are shareware, public domain or cardware. You do
not own these programs. Please see the documentation that is included with
each program. If you like a player program you are strongly encouraged to
register it with the author.
The menu program for both the Amiga and PC is Copyright 1996 by Legendary
Design Technologies Inc. You may not copy this program or use it in any
other product. If you are doing a MOD compilation and want to license
either of the programs, please contact us at the address below.

MAXMODS - Menu Program (Amiga and CD32 Notes)
This program can be run directly from the CD-ROM. Just click on the MAXMODS
icon in the Amiga drawer. If you want to change the default MOD player or
improve the speed of searches you can install the program onto your hard
drive. Just double click on the INSTALL icon in the Amiga drawer and follow
the on screen prompts.
To use the program just double click on the name of a MOD file or click once
and click on the play button. Use the scroll bar of arrows to look through
the file names.
You can use the search button to search for the name of a specific file.
Just enter the text you want to search for and click on the search button.
The program will search through the list from the blue bar down.
The configure button will allow you to change the default MOD player. Just
click on the button and enter the path and name of your favorite player
program. The program must be able to accept the name of the MOD file from
the command line. You also have to install the MAXMODS program on your
hard drive for this option to be saved permanently.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAXMODS - Menu Program (PC notes)
This program can be run directly from the CD-ROM only if your CD-ROM drive
is D:. If your CD-ROM drive is any drive other than D: you must install the
program onto your hard drive. Follow the procedure below to install:
X: (enter) - substitute the letter of your CD-ROM drive for X
CD \PC
INSTALL
Follow the on screen prompts. The program will create any directories that
it requires on your hard drive. Once the program is installed just CD to
the directory you specified and type MAXMODS.
The menu program runs from DOS. You may be able to run it under Windows, but
we do not guarantee that it will work on all systems. For best results exit
Windows and run from a DOS prompt. If you are using Windows 95 you should
restart into MS-DOS mode. We wanted to include a Windows menu program but
we could not find any good public domain or shareware MOD players that didn't
include severe limitations.
To use the menu program just type MAXMODS from the PC directory on the CD-ROM
or the directory that you installed it into. Use the cursor keys, page up
and down keys, home and end keys to browse through the list of MODS. Press
Enter to play the file that is under the highlite bar.
Press S to search for the name of a specific file. Just enter the text you
want to search for and press Enter. The program will search through the list
from the highlite bar down.
Press C to configure the program. You must install the program onto your
hard drive for this option to work. Here you can enter the path and
paramaters to another MOD player program. You can also change the drive
letter of your CD-ROM drive. The last option toggles between 25 line and
35/43/50 line mode. Any changes you make are automatically saved.
