  3. WhatÆs on the CD-ROM

  5. You can use the CD-ROM included in this book to access many useful
  6. files and programs. Before installing any of the programs on the disc,
  7. you should check that you do not already have a newer version of the
  8. program already installed on your computer. To install different
  9. versions of the same program, you should contact the programÆs
  10. manufacturer. For the latest and greatest information, please refer to
  11. the ReadMe file located at the root level of the CD-ROM.

  15. To use the contents of the CD-ROM, your computer must have the

  42. Author files are located on the CD-ROM that accompanies this book. You
  43. can use these files to follow along with the step-by-step instructions
  44. in various sections in this book. In this manner, you can read the
  45. steps as you see the actual results in Dreamweaver or Flash. When a
  46. particular section has a file that you can follow on the CD-ROM, you
  47. see the following icon:

  49. Simply open Dreamweaver or Flash, open the file that is indicated next
  50. to the CD icon, and then follow the steps in the section. You can
  51. browse the files directly from the CD-ROM, or you can copy them to your
  52. hard drive and use them as the basis for your own projects. To find the
  53. files on the CD-ROM, open the D:\Samples folder. Flash files that end
  54. in _f.fla are completed examples.

  56. Dreamweaver 8, Trial Version 
  57. For Windows 2000/XP and Mac.
  58. Dreamweaver is a full-featured application for designing, publishing,
  59. and maintaining Web sites. This trial version expires 30 days after you

  63. Flash Professional 8 is an application for creating interactive
  64. websites, digital experiences, and mobile content. With Flash
  65. Professional 8, you can design interactive content that includes video,

  71. Fireworks 8 lets you create, edit, and optimize images for use on your
  72. Web pages. You can create images in Fireworks and then add them to the
  73. pages that you build in Dreamweaver. This trial version expires 30 days

  77. Troubleshooting

  79. The programs on the CD-ROM should work on computers with the minimum
  80. of system requirements. However, some programs may not work properly.
  81.  
  82. The two most likely problems for the programs not working properly
  83. include not having enough memory (RAM) for the programs you want to
  84. use, or having other programs running that affect the installation or
  85. running of a program. If you receive error messages such as Not enough
  86. memory or Setup cannot continue, try one or more of the methods below
  87. and then try using the software again:

  89.   *  Turn off any anti-virus software
  90.   *  Close all running programs
  91.   *  In Windows, close the CD-ROM interface and run demos or
  92.      installations directly from Windows Explorer
  93.   *  Have your local computer store add more RAM to your computer
