---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction The fonts included on this CD have been collected from a
variety of worldwide sources. In order to make things
easier for the user we have intentionally sorted all the
fonts into individual directories, containing all
associated font files along with an IFF screen preview of
the font (Who else has done this on a CD?)
We also decided to keep the main font directories in line
with the the way the fonts are/were distributed in the EMC
PD/Shareware library. Over 14,500 EMC customers worldwide
have access to the famous EMC Information pack, so
theoretically, these users will already have a hard copy
printout of the fonts.
Some fonts come with text files by the font's author.
PLEASE read these files for further information on the
fonts and shareware fees. If you make use of the fonts...
PLEASE send the author the money he asks for. He/She has
spent large amounts of both time and probably money
developing/converting the typefaces so you can use them!
Some fonts also come with other font files, these files
include for example Fontname.abf, Fontname.cfg, Fontname.wri.
You should not concern yourself with these files! As
distributors of PD & Shareware fonts we are obliged to
include ALL the files that come with each font, regardless
if they are needed or not. In general the only files your
should be concerned with for use on the Amiga are the font
files with the Fontname.AFM & Fontname.PFB extensions.
However, some Amiga applications use for example the
Fontname.pfm file (Imagine v2.9+)
Installation for Type 1 Fonts ----------------------------------------------
Pagestream......We recommend that you make a new directory in your PSFonts
directory, for example : EMC_Fonts1, EMC_Fonts2 etc., and
simply copy all the font files into it. Try and resist the
temptation of putting too many fonts into the same
directory since YOU may need to READ or update the
directory sometime, and it will take ages to read the
contents! Load Pagestream (Soft-Logik), and update the font
list to include your new font directory/directories.
Final Copy2 release2 and Final Writer
Please note: If, when trying to load a font, a requester appears saying
that the font cannot be loaded as an outline font, you have
an old version of Final Copy's Type 1 Loader. THERE IS NO
PROBLEM WITH THE FONT! Please contact Gordon Harwoods
(Softwoods UK distributor) and ask for Tony Bullock in the
technical dept.. He will arrange to send you the new
version of the loader. This ONLY applies to Final Copy
users!
Floppy ... Format some floppy disks, and copy all the fontfiles with
the .PFB extensions to the new floppies (the other files
are not needed) Load Final Copy, open the font requester
and access the floppy containing the fonts you wish to use.
When the list appears, click on the font name and it will
load ready for use.
Hard Drive ... You can either...
1. Create a drawer on your hard disk and copy all the font
files with the .PFB extension to it. This eliminates the
need to search through the entire CD to locate the font
you wish to use.
or...
2. Make a note of the fonts you like and manually locating
them on the CD by clicking through the various CD
directories in the file requester and selecting the font
you wish to use by clicking on it's .PFB file.
