  1.         VDOS ProQueue Bootstrap Installation Instructions

  3.      The purpose of this file is to list the required folders 
  4. <that you must create>, and the files that are contained in this 
  5. archive.  I'll tell you where to place each of them.  I know that 
  6. this is a bit more complex than most people like, but you'll be 
  7. pleased once completed I'm sure.  Well, let's get started... It's 
  8. going to take most people about 20 minutes to install for the 1st 
  9. time.

  11.      I recommend that you install VDOS ProQueue (VDPQ) on the C:\ 
  12. partition of your hard disk.  I have included files to make it 
  13. easiest for that partition.  Once you have installed and become 
  14. acquainted with VDPQ you might choose to alter the configuration.

  18.      It is assumed that you have an \AUTO folder already in 
  19. existence for your autoloading programs.  If not create one on 
  20. your boot disk whether it be on floppy or hard disk.

  25.               CREATE THESE FOLDERS ON YOUR HARD DISK

  40.      ** NOTE:  What this means is that you must create two folders 
  41. within the VDOSPRO folder, one named MERGE and one named DOCS. **

  46.      Now you are ready to set up VDPQ.  Let's copy the files 
  47. contained in the PROQUEUE.ARC into their respective directories.

  85.      For a trial run, just enter the C:\VDOSPRO directory and 
  86. double click on VDOSPRO.PRG.  You are now ready to reap the 
  87. benefits of HARD DISK NIRVANA.  Define program slots by pressing 
  88. the shift key and clicking on an open, (or previously defined) 
  89. slot.  To assign a program to one of the 90 ARCHIVE slots, just 
  90. click on the ARCHIVE label at the bottom of your screen.  This 
  91. will enable the bottoms-up menu.  You assign in the exact way as 
  92. you do for the menu object on the desktop.  To clear a slot, just 
  93. press the control key and click on the chosen slot.  You can fill 
  94. the mini-menu on the desktop, and the archives (which must be 
  95. clicked on to open) in this manner.  You have 100 such slots to 
  96. utilize.  The silent 101st slot is for your own editor.  Just copy 
  97. any wordprocessor, or editor into the C:\VDOSPRO folder and rename 
  98. it EDIT.PRG.  It is now available from the drop down menu, or by 
  99. pressing its key combo.  If you do copy your editor into, the 
  100. VDOSPRO folder after you have run VDOS PROQUEUE for the 1st time, 
  101. you'll have to delete the UTILITY.CFG file so that the program can 
  102. re-build the file it uses to enable the utility options.  Once 
  103. done, the next time you run the program it will automatically 
  104. appear in the menu, and be available for use.

  106.      There is a bare-bones HELP feature that really is meant to be 
  107. used with the bound manual.  It will give you the key combos to 
  108. press and a page that the description is found on.  You call it 
  109. into action by pressing the <HELP> key.

  111.                            RAM Installation
  112.  
  113.      For those that have 1040 or Mega ST's, if you want the 
  114. software to scream, try a Virtual to RAM installation.  Just copy 
  115. the VDISK.PRG, and VPROLOAD.PRG (in that order) to your normal 
  116. \AUTO folder.  They are in the \AUTO portion of the archive, and 
  117. have been renamed VDISK.PR and VPROLOAD.PR..  This will create a 
  118. RAM Disk in the Drive P slot.  (DO NOT USE RAM OPTION IF YOU HAVE 
  119. A DRIVE P already on your system).  Then copy the STARTGEM.P file 
  120. to the root directory of your boot disk and rename it 
  121. SקARTGEM.INF.  It will now follow this sequence upon boot-up:

  123.      A RAM Disk is created to receive the system files.
  124.      VPROLOAD moves the files for you.
  125.      STARTGEM autoboots VDOS ProQueue from drive P.
