- EnQue Software's Math Facts 1.00 For the Atari ST

- ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- -----------------
-
- This program was designed to create math worksheets to reinforce basic
- math skills (grades 1 - 9). These worksheets can be used by teachers or
- parents for both practice and testing of both basic math facts and more
- complex problems. The program will also generate an answer sheet to aid
- in grading.
-
- So what are math facts? Simply put, they are basic relationships
- between numbers, and apply to the four basic mathematical operations
- addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. For instance, the
- math facts for the number 18 under addition would be any two numbers
- that add together to give 18. This gives problems such as 9 + 9,
- 10 + 8, 13 + 5, etc. Multiplication math facts for the number 16 would
- be any two numbers that multiply together to give 16. These would
- include 1 x 16, 4 x 4, and 2 x 8.
-
-
- USING THE PROGRAM
- -----------------
-
- Math Facts
- ----------
- To generate a Math Facts worksheet, just drop down the File menu and
- click on Math Facts. A random sheet of math problems based on the
- default parameters will appear in a GEM window for you to view, complete
- with answers. Once you have this worksheet on the screen, you can drop
- down the File menu and select Print Worksheet or Print Answer Guide to
- get a hard copy of the worksheet.
-
- If you do not like the sheet that was generated, you can edit the
- default parameters by dropping down the Options menu and selecting Math
- Fact Parameters. There you may set the range of math facts desired. You
- can also select whether you want just the basic facts or all facts.
- Basic facts are those that contain only single digits. For instance,
- the basic addition math facts for 15 would be 6 + 9 and 7 + 8, while the
- rest of the facts are 10 + 5, 11 + 4, 12 + 3, 13 + 2 and 14 + 1. Select
- basic facts when you wish to make worksheets that reinforce the very
- basics of math.
-
- Custom Sheet
- ------------
- To generate a Custom worksheet, just drop down the File menu and click
- on Custom Sheet. A random sheet of math problems based on the default
- parameters will appear. You may print this sheet, just as in the Math
- Facts selection. The parameters for Custom Sheet can be found under the
- Options menu, and can be modified to generate virtually any level of
- difficulty from the very simple to the rather complex. Use the Custom
- Sheet capability to make worksheets that cover specific types of
- problems, or that have a different level of difficulty for each
- operation within the same sheet.
-
- Operation Selection
- -------------------
- This program will allow you to mix and match any combination of the
- four basic operations addition, subtraction, multiplication and
- division, giving you a lot of flexibility in designing a worksheet. To
- select the operations to be used, simply drop down the Options menu and
- click on the operation you wish to include. A check mark will appear
- next to the operation to indicate it is on. Click again on the
- operation to turn it off. The default is set to addition only.
-
-
- Worksheet Setup
- ---------------
- You may also set the number of problems on the worksheet by selecting
- Problem Layout under the Options menu. The number of problems across
- and problems down can be varied from 3 to 10, giving from 9 to 100
- problems per worksheet.
-
- The header lines at the top of the sheet can be changed by selecting
- Page Headers under the Options menu. The default headers are set to
- "Name:____________" and "Date:__/__/__".
-
- Math Facts was designed for printing in text mode only, so it will
- work on just about any printer ever made. However a few parameters are
- included under Printer Options. If your printer double spaces instead
- of single spaces, just set the end of line control to CR instead of the
- default CR/LF.
-
-
