- What SHOULD have been in the ARC file:
-
- JIGSAW.PRG The program
- JIGSAW.PC1 The title screen
- JIGSAW.MAN This file
-
- That's all.
-
- ANOTHER Jigsaw program? AREN'T THERE ENOUGH?
-
- Very probably. But hey, I was bored.
- Anyway, you can run JIGSAW from LOW RESOLUTION only. After you run the
- program, the title screen will load.
- (A note on the title screen: it is mostly from a picture drawn by
- someone else, but I made extensive modifications on it, as you will
- notice.)
- After spending a few paltry seconds gazing at the title screen, press
- either mouse button to proceed. You will then be asked to select a
- file--either a DEGAS low res picture (.PI1), a DEGAS compressed low
- res picture (.PC1), or a NEOchrome picture (.NEO). The picture you
- provide is what JIGSAW will use as the puzzle.
- Then you will be prompted whether you want a hard or easy puzzle. I
- suggest trying an easy puzzle to get used to the game. After choosing
- a difficulty, JIGSAW will read your picture.
- JIGSAW will spend a minute or so digesting the file. Once it finishes,
- you will be presented with the puzzle.
- To solve the puzzle, you swap pieces of the picture around. Press the
- left button (and hold it down) on one of the pieces you want to move.
- Drag the mouse until the flickering box is over the square you want to
- drag the piece to. Release the button. The two pieces (the first one
- you selected and the one you ended up pointing at) will switch
- places.
- You may also press the right button on a square to rotate it 90
- degrees counter-clockwise. (Yes, most of the pieces HAVE been rotated;
- you will have to figure out which way they go.)
- If you need to look at the original picture, press the space bar to
- see it for a half a second.
- If you need to wimp out and not finish the puzzle, press any key
- besides the space bar to quit.
- When the puzzle looks exactly like the original picture, JIGSAW will
- congratulate you and tell you how long it took.
- If you quit or solve the puzzle, you will be asked if you would like
- to do another puzzle. If you say yes, you will once again be asked
- what picture you wish to use. If you say no, you will see the title
- screen again for a short while, and then you will be returned to the
- desktop.
-
- If this is not clear enough, I am sorry, but I am writing this at
- about 4 AM, right after I finished the program. If you have questions,
- E-mail Valox on the Crypt (402) 571-0152, or E-mail Damien Jones on the
- Binary Express (402) 734-5231 or DRBBS (402) 896-3537. Enjoy.
