- Sos Hangman v. 2.00
- (the accessory)
-
- by John R. Duckworth
- May 12 ,1993
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- SoS Hangman 2.00 is offered to the Atari community as FREEWARE. It
- may not be distributed without the following files:
- HANGMAN.ACC
- HANGMAN.TXT
- HANGMAN.DAT
- HANGMONO.RSC
- HANGCOLR.RSC
-
- ~~~~DISCLAIMER: Use SoS Hangman at your own risk. Although SoS Hangman
- v.2.00 has been thoroughly tested on several machines, we cannot
- be held responsible for any accidental damages in equipment, data,
- etc. while using it.

-
- How to use:
-
- Place HANGMAN.ACC,HANGMONO.RSC,HANDCOLR.RSC and HANGMAN.DAT in
- the directory you normally load accessories from. If you only use
- the color resolutions, you will only need the HANGCOLR.RSC file,
- and if you only use monochrome, only HANGMONO.RSC will be used. The
- accessory determines which type of screen it was loaded in, and
- chooses the appropriate resource file. SoS Hangman 2.00 works best
- with a hard drive, but will run from a floppy if booted in medium
- or high resolution. Users running SoS hangman 2.00 from a floppy
- will notice a slight delay when the accessory loads in new puzzles.
-
- SoS Hangman 2.00 also works well with the Chameleon accessory which
- will allow you to load and unload the game at will.
-
- How to play:
-
- If you have ever played hangman then you already know how to play.
- Simply guess letters until you have filled in the complete word
- or phrase located in the box near the top of the accessory window.
- The game will only accept guesses if the accessory is the top
- (active) window. Letters guessed will appear in a box near
- the bottom of the window, and a hint about what the word or
- phrase is will be found in a box above the SoS Software logo.
- There are now a few different categories of puzzles including...
- cinema (most likely a movie title), personalities (usually a
- movie star, but can be any well known person),television
- (most likely the name of a TV show), arcade (the name of an old
- favorite from the game room),toons (cartoon characters),
- music (most likely the name of a group or music performer),
- and literature (should have paid more attention to those
- reading assignments in English 101).
-
- You can only guess seven wrong letters before you will be "hung". You
- are not penalized for guessing a letter which you have guessed previously,
- the game will simply issue a warning. Also, the game now will only
- accept "legal keypresses", the lowercase letters.
-
- To close the window, click in the small (closer) box located in the top
- left corner. Clicking on the top right box (usually the fuller) will
- restart the game with a new puzzle.
-
- The game randomly chooses puzzles from it's .DAT file, so it is possible
- to get repeats. Also, the puzzles in the .DAT file are encrypted (although
- any fool can figure out the code) so that a user cannot accidently
- read the file. SoS Hangman 2.00 contains almost 400 puzzles, so
- repeats will not occur as much as they did in the first version.
-
- Clicking on the box labeled "info..." will bring up a small window
- with copyright notice and E-mail addresses of where I can be
- reached. You MUST click on the closer button of the info window to
- continue playing SoS Hangman.
-
