-
- Brian, thanks for posting the "Places to Stay" for Connecticut AtariFest
- '93. They will come in handy. I think we'd best tell potential
- overnighters, however, that there's already a lot of booking activity at
- the Windsor Court Hotel for the weekend of June 12 & 13. We had difficulty
- in securing additional rooms for Atarians expected for the show because of
- reservations made by other parties -- remember June is wedding season!
-
- I can't stress this enough. If you're coming to the show, MAKE YOUR
- RESERVATION TODAY!!!! Not next week, not in another five days, or next
- month! We would hate to see you have to drive in from another hotel even if
- it's only one mile from the show site. Why miss out on the after-hours
- activities that will go on at the show site? Also the Windsor Court Hotel
- has one of the best rates we can get: $35 per night when you tell them
- you're with Connecticut AtariFest '93.
-
- AGAIN, DON'T DELAY!!! RESERVE TODAY!!! The number for the Windor Court
- Hotel is (203) 623-9811. Don't be left out in the cold!
-
- That is all. Doug Finch

- CONNECTICUT SHOW TO FEATURE ATARI'S LATEST ENTRY
-
- HARTFORD, Conn. (April 12) -- More than 1,000 Atari computer enthusiasts
- are expected to converge here June 12 and 13 at Connecticut AtariFest '93,
- and will be greeted by over 50 vendors, business professional and media
- experts eager to share how cutting edge technology can make our lives more
- productive.
-
- One of the highlights of the show will be the Annual New England Lynx
- Tournament. Appealing to the gamester in the family, The tournament
- features non-stop competition and prize giveaways, with several extended
- tournaments. Last year's top winners took home the Deluxe Lynx Kit,
- consisting of a brand new Lynx, a power adapter and one of the latest
- games. This year, we expect to have an even greater participation, owing to
- the direct support of the Beyond Games company. The Official Lynx Game of
- CAF '93 is their upcoming release: BattleWheels. BattleWheels is an awesome
- six player game featuring customizable armored cars, which fight through a
- variety of terrains using a variety of weapons. Even if your car is
- destroyed, you can continue on foot. We'll have two six player link ups at
- all times, with prizes for individual tournaments, and for total points
- scored over the weekend. Lynx owners who bring their Lynx and a copy of
- Checkered Flag, Warbirds or any other ComLyxnable game will receive a
- reduced admission of $1.50 off per day!
-
- The two-day event will feature several of the top names in music software
- development and direct to disk recording, as well as developers of the
- latest productivity, graphics arts and entertainment software. Music
- exhibitors include Barefoot Software (formerly Hybrid Arts), Digital F/X,
- Steinberg/Jones, Pro Musica, Compo Software and more. In addition to
- several local computer dealers, organizers also expect A&D Software, ABC
- Solutions, Atari Computer Corp., Baggetaware, Best Electronics, Computers a
- la Carte, Computer Studio, Derric Electronics, E.Hartford Computer Repair,
- Gribnif Software, ICD Inc., MegaType Software, Oregon Research Associates,
- Soft-Logik Publishing, Straight Edge Software, Toad Computers, WinterTree
- and Wizztronics. Last year 14 user groups participated, and that number is
- expected to grow by June. This is also expected to be the debut of a new
- Multimedia PC from Atari: Falcon030. With built in MIDI ports, true color
- graphics, CD quality sound and the latest DSP chip from Motorola, Falcon030
- may be the first computer to deliver real power without the price.
-
- A Home Business and Entertainment Expo that will focus on high-tech
- gadgetry designed for home use is also planned. Central activities will
- include a Portfolio corner for the on-the-go palmtop computer user, and
- other technology such as VCRs, lap/palmtops, voice messaging systems,
- satellite receivers, CD-ROM, fax-modems, large screen TV, printers,
- audio-video components, cellular phones, office supplies, video games or
- add-on units and accessories. One ticket is good for both shows!
-
- For further information, contact organizers Brian Gockley at (203) 332-1721
- or Doug Finch at 203-637-1034. Subscribers to GEnie and Compuserve on-line

-
- In practice all those numbers don't mean much.:-) I set up some
- standard resolutions of 640x480x256, 1024x768x16, 1024x768x256,
- 1280x960x16, 1280x960 mono and a 728x496x256. These were all on Atari's
- PTC1426 color monitor. Software wise the card suffers from about the same
- incompatabilites as the TT. Most real software runs on it fine and
- everything seems to work in mono. I used DynaCADD, Calamus/SL, GEMview,
- Aladdin, Outline/3, Invision, Touch-Up, the Prism Tablet and some other
- stuff. These are the few I used the most so I know they work no problem.
-
- Basically to use the card you have two ACC's, like control panels, for
- setting everything up. You can adjust every spec on it from there...
- However you can't change resolutions on the fly you have to reboot. I
- didn't find this much of problem. Once you setup everything how you wish
- it's saved to a CXX file. Now you can just choose your resolution by
- activating the CXX file at boot time. I did this with Deskmanager. The
- only other thing you need is a decent VGA monitor. The card can configured
- to fit the monitor.
-
- With every good deal theres one drawback. It came from Germany so the
- software is in German. I do have an English manual and luckily theres not
- much text in the software.:-) I only found that a problem the first couple
- days but at that time I didn't have an English manual. I'll provide all
- the help you need getting setup.
-
- I'm asking $400 firm for everything including the original box's. I
- believe there around $900 new from Matrix if your wondering. It's also
- registered with Matrix and they respond to mail within 3 weeks. By the way
- I'm selling it to upgrade to a Cyrel Card. I've gotten corrupted by this
- thing and now I want MORE colors.:-) Got any questions feel free to ask in
- E-MAIL: REALM. Thanks!

- Time to clear out some of my excess hardware and pay some bills. All
- these prices are firm. You can contact me on GEnie at S.BROWN7 or call me

-
- PC SPEED with new CPU socket. I have had this rock solid IBM emulator
- working in my 1040 for over 6 months. It is very easy to install if you
- have a motherboard that DOESN'T have the CPU between the drive and
- mouse/joystick plug-in. $75.00
-
- (2) Z-RAM 4 meg upgrade boards without drams. I hate these things and
- will let them go for $20 each. I have had them both working in my 1040
- but never reliably and have killed two MMUs. Don't buy them unless you are
- masochistic, in love with them, or a very good hacker.
-
- PC-DITTO 2 board with a hacked up CPU clip. This is another
- early IBM emulator and I've never had this working. $25
-
- SPECTRE 128 cartridge ready to plug in and go. $175
-
- MEGAFILE 30 Hard drive upgraded to 64 megs. $250
-
- 1040 with an internal SINGLE SIDED drive, mouse. $150
-
- SC1224 color monitor. ( great shape! ) $125
-
- SM124 monochrome monitor ( like new! ) $75
-
- Monitor Master ( monitor switch box ) $20
-
- Video-Key ( RGB to TV signal converter ) $25
-
- That's about it for now. My creditors will be so happy.
