  4. Hi. This is my first attempt at programming my ST, so keep that in
  5. mind while you use this program.

  7. I would appreciate detailed bug reports and good suggestions for
  8. improvments. If you like the program, please let me know that too.
  9. Nothing feels as good as having people appreciate your work! 
  10. (Well, almost nothing) :D.

  12. This program started because I download a lot of text files from BBS's
  13. for later reading and the Show function on the desktop didn't meet my
  14. needs. I wanted to be able to search for keywords and page up and not
  15. keep having disk accesses all the time. So I made File Displayer which
  16. has all those functions that I mentioned. It loads the entire file in 
  17. memory and lets me manipulate my way though any text file I want.

  19. The easiest way to use File Displayer is to put a copy of it on any
  20. disk that you keep Text files on (Hard Disk users: Let me know how
  21. you install it, because I don't own a hard disk), and then use the
  22. install application function on the desktop to install such extenders
  23. as .TXT or .DOC etc... (If you need help installing, let me know).
  24. Then you may double click on the text file you wish to read and File
  25. Displayer will automatically run.

  27. After File Displayer loads your file, the first page will be 
  28. displayed along with a status line that tell you the page your on,
  29. the number of pages in the file, and the logical options you can
  30. use on that page. Logical meaning that you don't want to page up
  31. on the first page and you wouldn't want to go to the bottom of
  32. the file on the last page, etc...

  34. F1 key allows you to type in a string to search for (Case sensitive)
  35. and the program will search from the top of the next page to the
  36. bottom of the file for it. If it finds it, the display will start
  37. from the line that the string was found. If not, a message will tell
  38. you so and ask you to press a key to continue. Press F2 key to search
  39. for the next occurance of that string.

  41. F3 key allows you to mark the current page for printing or for
  42. returning to if you want to move someplace else in the file for
  43. reference or searching. Press F4 to return to that page or F5 to
  44. print that page.

  46. F10 allows you to print the entire file. Press Undo to abort the
  47. printing.

  49. Press the Help key to get a listing of the options.

  51. Press Undo to quit the program.

  53. You can run this program in all resolutions. If you run it in low, the
  54. program will switch to medium to display the file and then switch back
  55. to low after it's finished.
