- VIEWFILE Version 1.0

- Welcome to VIEWFILE V1.0!! Well I guess you want to know what VIEWFILE does
- so I will tell ya(DUH?). I noticed a MAJOR drawback of BBS Express when I
- started up my board. I tried to make it view a VT-52 screen. The closest
- I could come was using the VIEW command in script, and that worked about
- 60% but the rest of it was trash. So I decided to write my own program
- that would view that perfect for my users and me. Incidently, this
- program will work for ALL ANSI, Commodore 64, Amiga, VT52, ANYTHING that
- you want your users to be able to view over the modem. You won't be able
- to see the ANSI, and C64 graphics etc... but the users that select that
- option and have the capability to view the files will see it just fine.
- All you will get is trash(Except VT52 screens, you can see them perfect!)
- If you don't have any ANSI screens or Commodore 64 screens you will have
- to have one of your friends make you one. You could make your own VT52
- screens though with a VT52 Editor.
-
- How to make VIEWFILE work.
-
- If your BBS was run from drive c: then put
- VIEWFILE.TOS in drive C:... Likewise if it was run from c:\bbs\ then put
- it in c:\bbs\ ok. Just make sure it is in the same directory as BBS.PRG!!
-
- You see, VIEWFILE.TOS looks for a file called VIEWFILE.DAT. And it will
- find it in the same directory as where BBS.PRG is run from!!!
-
- VIEWFILE.DAT is a textfile that is only 1 line long.
- the 1 line contains the drive and path of what file to view...
-
- With the SCRIPT file called CONNECT.HLP that was included in this ARCHIVE
- you will see how I made it create a file called VIEWFILE.DAT and then
- ran the VIEWFILE.TOS to show the file over the modem in the proper way so
- that people could view it. You may want to copy this CONNECT.HLP over your
- CONNECT.HLP in your MENUS_80 directory!! Not Menus_40!! As when someone
- logs on the first file EXPRESS try to look at is CONNECT.HLP in the
- MENUS_80 directory. Just look at how it is setup and you will understand..
-
- I know there DOCS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! But if you will just follow each step
- then it should be easy enough(You should have SOME knowledge of the SCRIPT
- language that was supplied with BBS Express!!)
-
- When all else fails Call MATT M. HEATON at 801-375-5470 ANYTIME ok!!!!!
- And I will be able to tell you how to set it up in like 2 mins...
-
- Also my BBS is down now, so all you people that are trying to call it and
- get new versions of ZMODEM and stuff I will just upload em to ICD's board
- at 815-968-2229 ok!!
-
- This program has CARRIER CHECK and all that crap in it too ok... and will
- send the file through the modem just fine without any IO done to it ok...
