- Fnordadel Private Mail Tutorial
-
- Messages in the Mail> room are visible ONLY to the sender and a recipient.
- The Sysop can't read users' personal mail, and it isn't echoed at the console
- while being entered or read by the sender or recipient.
-
- If you enter a message in the Mail> room, the BBS will prompt you for the
- name of the recipient. (If you haven't logged in yet, the only recipient
- allowed is "Sysop".) If the BBS does not know anyone by that name, the
- message will be refused. Otherwise, you are sent to the message editor like
- normal.
-
- If you have mail waiting, you will be told when you log in. It can be read
- using the usual commands. To assist in replying and so on, the system
- automatically uses the "more" mode when you read messages in Mail>. You can
- reply directly to a message from somebody (even if it's a networked message)
- using the [R]eply command at the "more" command prompt.
-
- To enter or reply to a networked message, you may need net privileges, which
- only the Sysop can give out. If he or she is generous enough, the system may
- be configured to give all users net privileges automatically, in which case
- you're home free. To add a further wrinkle, though, to enter or reply to a
- networked message from a long-distance system, you also need long-distance
- network credits. These must be given to you manually by the Sysop.
-
- General complaints, comments and requests should be addressed to "Sysop".
