  7. To make the process of un-ARCing files easier for our readers,
  8. START magazine uses Double Click Software's DC SEA program
  9. to convert the ARC and LZH files to self-extracting PRG files.
  10.  
  11. This program, DCONVERT.PRG, converts the self-extracting DC SEA 
  12. file back to its original form, a standard .ARC or .LZH file.
  13.  
  14. Why would you want to do this?  Because DC SEA is not currently
  15. compatible with the TT.  Also, the DC SEA files on the START 
  16. disks from June to November 1990 do not work with the STE
  17. (we started using DC SEA 2.0 with the December 1990 issue, which
  18. does work with the STE.)

  20. So, if your attempt to run a self-extracting file from the START
  21. disk results with bombs, use DCONVERT.PRG to change them back
  22. into the original .ARC or .LZH file, then use the appropriate
  23. file archiving program, ARC.TTP or LHA.TTP, to uncompress the 
  24. files.  Both of these programs are available from user groups and
  25. BBS's, try to get the newest version.  There is also a shell
  26. program, ARCSHELL, that makes ARC.TTP and LHA.TTP easier to use.

  28. DCONVERT.PRG is pretty straightforward, just run it and follow its
  29. instructions.  You should run it on a backup copy of the START
  30. program, however, just in case.

  32. I apologize for this round-about way that you TT users will have
  33. to endure to access the START disk.  Hopefully Double Click will
  34. come out with a version of DC SEA for the TT soon, we'll start
  35. using it as soon as we get it.
