  11. Installation
  12. ============

  14. Basically, copy !WebGet out of the archive, load !WebGet.Choices into a
  15. text editor and alter at least the proxy details, if required.

  18. Adding URLs to the fetch queue
  19. ==============================
  20.  
  21. This can be done by either selecting 'Add URL' from WebGet's iconbar
  22. menu, or ticking 'Capture URLs' and then clicking on URLs in other
  23. applications (eg. mail/news readers, hotlist programs, etc), or
  24. buying dragging a URL or URI the WebGet's iconbar icon.
  25.  
  26. The Capture URLs facility will only reliably work when there isn't
  27. a web browser loaded!

  30. Fetching pages
  31. ==============

  33. Go online, run !WebGet and then select the appropriate fetch from the
  34. 'Start Fetch' submenu of the iconbar menu.
  35.  
  36. Click select on the iconbar to open the status window.
  37.  
  38. The pages will be fetched, and then rewritten so that all the links
  39. work in the local copies of the pages. Once this is complete, the
  40. log file will be automatically run.
  41.  
  42. The 'Stop Fetch' menu item may be used to gracefully stop a download -
  43. webget will not start to download any more pages, and will enter the
  44. rewrite phase once all the in progress pages have finished.
  45.  
  46. 'Abort fetch' will immediately stop a download, and will also stop
  47. the pages being rewritten.
  48.  
  49. 'Configure...' is greyed out, because it hasn't been implemented yet!

  75. * End of fetch summary (number of errors, speed, etc)

  77. * Better animation icon whilst downloading

  79. * A stronghelp manual

  81. * Ability to remove URLs from the fetch files once they've been fetched
  82. * Ability to limit fetches to certain filetypes, or exclude certain
  83.   file types.
  84. * Rewrite unfetched URL's to webget:http://www.wherever/, then set things
  85.   so when the link is traversed, webget will offer to fetch the url.
  86.   NB. need to think about inline images and things?
  87. * Hide some of the more esoteric options in the add url dialogue
  88.   inside an 'Advanced' box or something?
  89. * Improve the searching speed of the internal URL database
  90. * Support for 'norobots.txt'?

  124. WebGet is distributed as 'giftware'. This is similar to freeware, but
  125. you are encouraged (rather that obliged, as with shareware) to send the
  126. author approximately 5ukp if you think it's worth it. See the section
  127. at the end of this file for contact details.

  129. Your money will encourage the future development and support of this
  130. and other freeware/giftware RiscOS applications.
  131. (and, of course, if you send a feature request accompanied by some
  132. money, you may find I'm more likely to implement it ;-) )

  134. [If sending UK currency isn't easy for you, feel free to send me
  135. something 'interesting' from the country you're in. And, no, I don't
  136. exactly know what I mean by that either! Fudge or chocolate are also
  137. acceptable if you're stuck for ideas :-) ]

  140. unchanged as in the original archive distributed by me.
