  6. This file contains useful release notes on installation, troubleshooting,
  7. etc.

  9. It is STRONGLY recommended that you read the Docs.Manual file -
  10. Nuclear Holocaust is a surprisingly complex game with many features. If you
  11. don't read the manual, even if you can play the game, you will not enjoy it
  12. to the full.

  14. MUSIC AND SPEECH
  15. ================

  17. If Nuclear Holocaust reports Music or Speech not installed when you load it,
  18. then you can increase your gaming pleasure by going straight to the
  19. Holocaust pages in the Features section at www.acornarcade.com and
  20. downloading them free of charge.

  22. SLOW TEXT DISPLAY

  25. If it seems as if the text in the menus is displaying slowly (ie you have
  26. to watch it gradually appearing on the screen) then increase the amount of
  27. memory allocated to your font cache in the task manager.

  29. SLOW COMPUTER PLAYERS

  32. If the computer players are taking too long to take their shots, it may
  33. be advisable to play at a lower screen resolution. I do not recommend for
  34. pre-RiscPC's to go over 640x512.

  36. RISC PC / A7000 USERS
  37. =====================

  39. The best screen resolution to run Nuclear Holocaust in is 640x512. This is
  40. not a standard mode (although any resolution will work) so I have supplied a
  41. suitable definition for an AKF60 monitor - it should work with most
  42. compatible monitors. You don't have to use it - in fact if you *can* run it
  43. in 1600x1200 then do so!

  45. To use one it, open the directory
  46.   ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!BOOT.Resources.Configure.Monitors.Acorn
  47. And load the file 'AKF60' into a text editor. Append the 'MDFx' file to the
  48. end of this file, and save it.
  49. Beboot your computer.
