  2. * * Bible Baseball for Windows version 1.4 - Read this file first!  * *

  5. Installation Instructions for Program Manager:
  6.     - Place the following four (4) files into a new directory 
  7.       (like c:\winbb) or into an existing directory.  Just as long
  8.       as the 4 files are in the SAME directory.
  9.         WINBB.EXE
  10.         BIBLE.QUS
  11.         BB1.WAV
  12.         BB2.WAV
  13.     - Select the window in program manager into which you want to
  14.       add WinBB
  15.     - Pull down the FILE menu and select NEW
  16.     - Select Program Item and click OK
  17.     - In the Program Item Properties window select BROWSE
  18.     - Manipulate the directory structure until you find the directory
  19.       where you placed the 4 WinBB files
  20.     - Select WINBB.EXE and click OK
  21.     - Back in the Program Item Properties window type "Bible Baseball"
  22.       (without the quotes) into the DESCRIPTION field and click OK
  23.     - That's it!  WinBB should now be installed in the current window

  25. Playing Instructions:
  26.     - Pull down HELP menu inside Winbb for playing instructions.

  28. Machine Requirements:
  29.     - Windows 3.1
  30.     - Arial, Times New Roman true type fonts
  31.     - MS Sans Serif screen font
  32.     - VBRUN300.dll visual basic run module
  33.     - MMSYSTEM.dll (for sound) - supplied with Windows 3.1 in your
  34.       Windows\System directory (unless you deleted it!)
  35.     - Speaker.drv (for sound) - without it you won't hear the crowd

  37. About the Author:
  38.     This is my first attempt at creating a program for the PC to be
  39.     distributed to the general public.  But I am not exactly a novice
  40.     to computers.  I am an 18 year mainframe computer programmer.  
  41.     My wife wanted me to learn Visual Basic so that I could write
  42.     some applications for her fifth grade classroom's PC.  She
  43.     teaches at Penn Christian Academy in Noristown, PA.  If you have
  44.     any comments, corrections, bug notifications (heaven forbid),
  45.     or ideas for other useful educational programs,    please just let
  46.     me know.  My address is listed in Bible Baseball's ABOUT box.

  48. Development Environment:
  49.     This program was written in Visual Basic V3.0 Standard Edition
  50.     on my home PC which is a 486SX-25 with 4 meg RAM.  I'm running
  51.     Windows 3.1 on top of MS-DOS 6.2 using the standard Microsoft
  52.     memory manager(HIMEM/EMM386), disk cache (Smartdrv), and speaker
  53.     driver (speaker.drv). It was also tested on a 486-33, a 386-33, 
  54.     and a 386SX-16.  Some of the machines running 640x480 and some
  55.     at 800x600.  It ran successfully on all of the machines
  56.     (it was a little slow on the 386SX).

  58. Future Enhancements:
  59.     - Saving and Restarting
  60.     - Maintaining high scores
  61.     - Manipulating team colors (my son wants this)
  62.     - Possibly, some more animation
  63.     - Option for maximum runs per inning
  64.     - Selecting questions by category (Old Test., New Test., etc.)
  65.     - ???? If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

  67. Questions:
  68.     - This game contains 4 classifications of questions.  They are
  69.       SINGLE, DOUBLE, TRIPLE, and HOME RUN.
  70.     - The SINGLE questions are the easiest and the HOME RUN
  71.       questions are the hardest.
  72.     - This version of WinBB contains 100 questions
  73.       (40 SINGLE, 20 DOUBLE, 20 TRIPLE, and 20 HOME RUN).
  74.     - Questions are taken from several different transalations.
  75.     - More questions are available for a small fee.
  76.     - Instructions for entering your own questions are also available.

  78. Version History:
  79.     - v1.0 released 1/11/94
  80.     - v1.1 released 1/20/94 - Typos in question file fixed, sound menu
  81.       bar option changed to avoid some confusion, some buttons changed
  82.       to fit labels better.
  83.     - v1.2 released 1/26/94 - New question file format implemented
  84.       with a canonical number and all info on one line.  Please note
  85.       that the program will work with both the old and new question
  86.       file formats!  Also, a conversion program has been supplied to
  87.       convert the old question format to the new format.
  88.     - v1.3 released 1/27/94 - Three new options added to program
  89.       startup.  First, option for allowing a maximum of 9 runs per
  90.       half inning.  Second, option for allowing only 1 out per half
  91.       inning.  Lastly, option to start game without sound.
  92.     - v1.4 released 1/28/94 - Options to select only Old Testament
  93.       or New Testament questions added.  Also, option info in menu
  94.       bar of game.

  97.     - You may copy and give this game to anyone you wish as long
  98.       as the 4 main files and this README.TXT file and kept intact.
