The program files need to be installed using the SETUP.EXE
program. You cannot install the program properly simply by
copying files to your hard drive.
If you downloaded the program from a bulletin board, the easiest
way to install the program is to copy all the files to a floppy
drive. When downloading from a bulletin board, the files will
normally be in two parts. VBWIN1.ZIP is all the program and word
files. VBWIN2.ZIP is actually the Visual Basic run-time library.
If you already have the Visual Basic run-time on your system,
then you don't need VBWIN2.ZIP.
The VBWIN1.ZIP and VBWIN2.ZIP files should be unzipped onto a
floppy. The syntax for doing this will be something like:
PKUNZIP VBWIN1 A:
PKUNZIP VBWIN2 A:
If you do not need to install the Visual Basic run-time, then you
will need to erase the file SETUP.LST from the floppy after you
un-zip the files, and rename SETUP2.LST to SETUP.LST. If you do
not make this change, then the Setup program will give you an
error, saying that it cannot find the run-time library. (If you
received the program from a disk vendor, you will not have the
file SETUP2.LST)
If you must install the program from 360K floppies, then consult
the file VENDOR.DOC, which tells you which files should be on
which floppy.
If you received the program from a disk vendor, then you probably
have a disk 1 and disk 2. You should start off with disk 1 in
your floppy drive, and put disk 2 in when prompted.
To install, load Windows and use the Run... command under File to
run the SETUP program on the floppy disk. Everything should be
pretty self-explanatory from there.
