** Changes to The RaLin Reader since 2.01 **
See documentation for more detail on these additions.
o ALT-S Toggle Sound On/Off eliminates the sounds, if you're
working late at night, and/or do not wish to disturb others.
All sounds, even the short beeps for Printer Command keys
are silenced. Command line setting allowed with NS. See the
manual or RR.HST.
o ALT-B Toggle screen border color, only in 25 line mode.
Will not work on EGA monitors.
o CTL-V Toggle video mode. Switch from 25 to 43/50 line mode.
43 or 50 is automatically determined by the reader.
CTL-V is a toggle, you may switch back and forth.
The mode you were in when the reader started, is restored
when the program exits.
Obviously, if you are using a CGA monitor, this command
will have No effect.
o CTL-C Call the configuration program. Modifies the config file
currently in use. If it is desired to create a NEW
configuration file, in the CURRENT directory, then use the
ALT-X command and enter RRCONFIG /n the (/n or /N) switch
specifies that this is a NEW config file, and to not edit
the current. Upon rentry to the reader, the NEW file will be
used.
o ALT-Q QUIT! Changed the Exit key to Alt-Q and moved the ESC key to
to load a new file.
o ESCape Now calls the New File list.
o ALT-N Calls the Note Pad, which can be used to make notes for
later reference. It calls or creates a file called
RNOTE.PAD. On Line Help is available with F1.
See NOTEPAD.DOC for more info.
o Modified the startup display Dialog Box a little, to present the display
in a more compact and neater appearence.
o Added a DeskTop background to the Pick Lists.
o Implemented a safety check on printing to file, you are not allowed to
write to the same file you are viewing. A couple of tests did not show
any obvious ill effects, but the practice is a dangerous one. So, NOT
ALLOWED.
o RRCONFIG:
Decided to NOT allow a startup video mode. Changing is easily done in
the program, and if you are already in compressed view mode when you
start the reader, it will start in compressed mode too.
Added a Command Line Help screen as a quick reference, display by
entering RRCONFIG ? and pressing ENTER.
Added a Help screen from the command line, just a short refresher on how
RRCONFIG looks for and loads the configuration file. Type RRCONFIG ? to
display.
o READER:
Modifed the PgUp and PgDn action. The display now overlaps one line.
PgUp will now place the TOP line at the Bottom, and PgDn will now place
the BOTTOM line at the TOP. This is to eliminate the thinking that you
may have missed a line or two, it gives you a familar "reference" line
to see. I find it much more easy on the eye and brain <grin>.
NOTE: If the text being viewed contains blank lines, this will sometimes
throw off the the overlap by a line.
o Added 3 more printer control strings, total of six. Should be enough
for most anybody. Additional keys are ALT-4, ALT-5, ALT-6.
o Picklists and Dialog Boxes inherit colors from the screen color choices.
See the manual for specifics.
