  8. announced that WordPerfect Presentations 2.0 for Windows will be
  9. released to distributors July 16, 1993. The product will be
  10. available on reseller's shelves by the end of the month. Positioned
  11. as the industry's most comprehensive presentation graphics product,
  12. WordPerfect Presentations for Windows combines advanced
  13. presentation, charting, drawing, text and painting tools with
  14. support for TWAIN, OLE and direct CD ROM sound.
  15.      "WordPerfect Presentations introduces a best-of-class, all-in-
  16. one solution to the Windows presentation graphics market," said
  17. Alan Ashton, President & CEO, WordPerfect Corporation. "The breadth
  18. and depth of features in this product make it easy for any user to
  19. quickly create effective presentations, and demonstrates the
  20. strength of our commitment to this market."
  21. TWAIN Support, Paint Tools
  22.      Support for the TWAIN open industry interface enables users to
  23. scan images directly into WordPerfect Presentations. The scanned
  24. images can be edited pixel-by-pixel with the Bitmap Editor, and
  25. then converted into vector images using the Autotrace feature. Any
  26. scanner that is TWAIN-compliant may be used to scan images directly
  27. into WordPerfect Presentations.
  28. Scanner Bundle
  29.      Logitech's ScanMan Model 32 hand-held scanner will be bundled
  30. in specially marked full retail packages of WordPerfect
  31. Presentations for Windows for 90 days from the time that
  32. WordPerfect Presentations ships or while supplies last. "This
  33. bundle will enable users to take advantage of the scanner support
  34. in WordPerfect Presentations without having to invest in a
  35. separately sold scanner," said Shirley Chu, product marketing
  36. director, WordPerfect Presentations.
  37. QuickTutors
  38.      QuickTutors, designed and developed by Usability Sciences
  39. Corporation, have been licensed for inclusion in WordPerfect
  40. Presentations for Windows. These on-line tutorials offer
  41. demonstrations on how to perform some of the most common tasks in
  42. WordPerfect Presentations. QuickCards are also available for times
  43. when users just need a quick reference card to refresh their
  44. memories.
  45. Sound Capabilities
  46.      WordPerfect Presentations supports direct CD ROM sound and is
  47. the first to support the new Roland Audio Producer Card (RAP-10),
  48. which enables users to combine and edit digital audio (WAV) and
  49. MIDI sound files. More than 100 MIDI sound clips ship with
  50. WordPerfect Presentations, and users can take advantage of the
  51. product's digital audio support to do such things as record and
  52. play back voice clips. Support for the RAP-10 will also allow users
  53. to synchronize audio tracks in their presentations independent of
  54. slide transitions.
  55. Object Linking and Embedding
  56.      As an OLE server, WordPerfect Presentations lets users embed
  57. charts, graphics or other elements into Windows 3.1 client
  58. applications. As an OLE client, WordPerfect Presentations supports
  59. OLE server applications such as Microsoft Video for Windows. Users
  60. can double click on linked or embedded objects to launch the
  61. application used to create them.
  62. Charting Tools
  63.      The unique split-screen chart editor allows users to edit
  64. information in their outline or spreadsheet at the top of the
  65. screen, and have those changes reflected in their chart on the
  66. bottom of the screen. A wide variety of 3-D chart types are
  67. supported, including bar, surface, pie, hi-lo, scatter and area,
  68. and perspective can be altered on any of these. Other charts types
  69. include organizational, tables and bullet. Users can import
  70. spreadsheet files from Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, Quattro Pro and
  71. PlanPerfect.
  72.      Users have control over all design aspects (color, tick marks,
  73. legends, etc.) and can enter data in a spreadsheet-like data entry
  74. screen. The Data Statistics feature automatically summarizes row
  75. and column data, and the Chart Gallery allows users to scroll
  76. through and view a wide variety of chart types. In addition, an
  77. organizational chart editor allows users to quickly create various
  78. organization charts from an outline.
  79.      The multiple document interface (MDI) in WordPerfect
  80. Presentations for Windows lets users have nine documents open at a
  81. time on the screen, and allows them to copy information between
  82. multiple chart and bitmap editors open in those documents.
  83.      "Chart editors, bitmap editors, on-screen tutorials and many
  84. other features combine to give users the power and ease-of-use they
  85. need," said Shirley Chu. "Nothing makes giving a presentation
  86. easier than WordPerfect Presentations."
  87. Drawing Tools
  88.      WordPerfect Presentations contains the most comprehensive set
  89. of drawing tools in the presentation graphics market, and includes
  90. tools such as Bezier curves, smart arrows, closed curves,
  91. transparent shadows, regular polygons, freehand, circular arcs,
  92. crosshair and ruler. Objects will snap to horizontal and vertical
  93. alignment guides when they are sized or moved within a certain
  94. distance of the guides. Users can also take advantage of an
  95. extensive set of editing tools to do such things as edit curves,
  96. scale elements with handles, use gradients, combine two or more
  97. drawing items, and blend objects in both color and shape. Over
  98. 1,000 editable clip art images ship with WordPerfect Presentations.
  99. The product also supports more than 16 million colors and lets
  100. users create limitless custom palettes of 256 colors.
  101. Presentation Tools
  102.      Unique to WordPerfect Presentations for Windows, the new Slide
  103. List view lists slide titles, advances, transitions, speaker notes,
  104. sound, controls and templates associated with individual slides in
  105. a slide show. A Column Manager allows users to sort information by
  106. "click and drag" in the slide list, and with a single click on the
  107. right mouse button users can customize slide attributes for each
  108. slide in their presentation.
  109.      The Slide Outliner presents users with an on-screen notepad to
  110. help them organize a fresh set of ideas or retrieve outlines
  111. created in WordPerfect. Outline information is automatically
  112. arranged into slides. The Slide Sorter view allows users to see and
  113. arrange slides by showing them in thumbnail view on screen.
  114. rearrange them by simply clicking and dragging.
  115.      A Master Gallery of more than 60 professionally designed
  116. master backgrounds is also available to users. Each background
  117. contains a set of matching templates, giving users an idea of what
  118. various slides (charts, text, bullet points) will look like.
  119. Speaker notes and handouts can also generated by WordPerfect
  120. Presentations.
  121.      The flow of on-screen slide shows can be controlled with the
  122. use of more than 30 slide transitions, including such effects as,
  123. diagonals, overlays, jigsaws and screen pours, as well as cascading
  124. bullets that give control over the on-screen display of
  125. information. Any key on the keyboard can also be assigned to a
  126. slide as a "Go To" key, allowing users to branch to non-consecutive
  127. slides during a slide show.
  128. Text Tools
  129.      WordPerfect Presentations lets users contour text to a path,
  130. and provides them with access to Windows fonts and WordPerfect
  131. characters, a speller, and filled text gradients.
  132. Other Features
  133.      WordPerfect Presentations for Windows uses the same file
  134. format for slide shows and charts as the DOS version, and any file
  135. created in WordPerfect can be used to create text, organizational
  136. charts or slide shows.
  137.      Floating tool palettes and attribute palettes can be placed
  138. anywhere on the screen by clicking and dragging them. The posters
  139. feature allows users to have a drawing extend over multiple pages;
  140. drawings can cover an 6X6 page square or up to 36 pages. A
  141. configurable Button Bar lets users place frequently-used features
  142. on the Button Bar, and users can correct mistakes with the undo and
  143. redo features.
  144. Pricing
  145.      Full packages of WordPerfect Presentations for Windows bundled
  146. with Logitech's ScanMan Model 32 will retail for $495. The price
  147. for competitive trade-ups and WordPerfect for Windows/DOS users,
  148. good through December 31, 1993, will be $129.  Users who purchase
  149. Presentations for DOS up to July 16, 1993 are already qualified for
  150. a free upgrade through WordPerfect's multiplatform license. Users
  151. who purchase Presentations for DOS or Windows after July 16, 1993
  152. will be able to take advantage of a program now being put in place
  153. that will enable them to move easily across platforms. The Logitech
  154. ScanMan Model 32, included at no extra cost in specially marked
  155. full retail packages of WordPerfect Presentations for Windows,
  156. retails for $199.
