  6. A Word for Windows template for the entering, editing, and formatting of
  7. feature screenplays.

  9. If you write feature screenplays and own Word for Windows you need
  10. gScript.  It is an incredibly full-featured mini-application that
  11. turns Word for Windows into a virtually custom word processor tailored
  12. to the creation and formatting of film scripts.

  18. Smart Styles    Enter a stream of dialogue simply by pressing enter
  19.                 between paragraphs (nor formatting keys).
  20. Smart Tab       Move from style to style with the Tab key.
  21. Smart Enter     Expand a character name abbreviation and move
  22.                 to dialogue with a single keystroke.
  23. Script specific glossaries
  24. Ability to create project specific copies of GSCRIPT.DOT
  25. SideBySideDialogue
  26. Three methods to format your screenplay:  Draft (no break strings),
  27.                 Master (break dialogue), and Shooting (break action

  29. StripFormatting - a formatted script can easily be stripped of any

  43. This self-extracting EXE file contains the five essential gScript files:
  44.          (file)                   (destination)
  45.         GSCRIPT.DOT     -       Template directory
  46.         GSCRIPT.HLP     -       Windows directory
  47.         GSCRIPT.INI     -       Windows directory
  48.         GSFDOC.DOC      -       Any directory
  49.         GSFDEMO.DOC     -       Any directory
  50. And the following optional information/utility files:
  51.         README.TXT      -       This file
  52.         GSCRIPT.DES     -       A suggested description for BBSes
  53.         INSTALL.BAT     -       A DOS batch file to automate the
  54.                                 installation process
  55. You can copy the five gScript files manually to the above specified
  56. directories, or You can use INSTALL.BAT with the following syntax:
  57.  
  58.         INSTALL <dot-path> <win-dir>
  59.  
  60. Updating from previous versions of gScript.
  61.  
  62.         1) You should rename your existing GSCRIPT.DOT to another
  63.            name.  This will allow you to retrieve any glossaries
  64.            stored in that template.
  65.            
  66.         2) Version 2.0 of gScript stored it's help file, GSCRIPT.HLP
  67.            in your Word for Windows directory.  Version 2.9 places
  68.            GSCRIPT.HLP in your Windows directory.  This could cause
  69.            a conflict.  I suggest removing the older GSCRIPT.HLP.

  76. This version of gScript is available via on-line services.  It is being
  77. distributed as ShareWare, which means you can try before you buy.

  79. The "demo" version of gScript has not been disabled in any significant way.
  80. That is, all the features of the registered/commercial version are in this
  81. demo.  However, there are a few differences:
  82.  
  83. 1) The documentation file does not contain the reference section (this
  84. material is, however, in the help file).
  85. 2) A licensing reminder screen will appear under two circumstances:  the
  86. creation of a new file/project, and the execution of FormatScript.
  87. 3) The context sensitive link with the  help file has been disabled.  Many
  88. gScript dialog boxes have Help buttons.  In the licensed version these buttons
  89. take you directly to the help topic for the specific command.  In the demo
  90. version these buttons display a message and then load the help file at the
  91. contents page.

  94. Uploading to other services.

  97. gScript is distributed via modem to various publicly available on-line
  98. services.  You are free to distribute to your favorite BBS, but please
  99. use the following naming conventions.
  100.  
  101. GSCRPT.EXE   -- The file as distributed to CIS (which only allows 6 chars
  102.                 in a filename).  This is a self-extracting EXE file.
  103.                 
  104. GSF29B.ZIP   -- The file name used for PCBoard and other services that do
  105.                 not allow EXE uploads.  This ZIP file should contain the
  106.                 original self-extracting EXE file.
  107.  
  108. Do not repack the individual files into ZIPs under other names.  Please.
  109. If you have the EXE format, please create a GSF29A.ZIP containing only
  110. that EXE.

  113. WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION
  114. ******************************
  115. Version 2.9b fixes some glitches in the macros FormatScript and
  116. NumberThisSlug.
  117.  
  118. It also addes two new features:
  119. SmartEnter - is now smarter.  It can be used to expand a character
  120. name abbreviation while in paragraphs of Action and Dialogue as well 
  121. as when in a paragraph of Char.
  122.  
  123. To use simply type an abbreviation (such as A in the default GSCRIPT.DOT)
  124. and press enter.
  125.  
  126. To display a list of abbreviations when in Action or Dialogue, type `
  127. followed by enter.
  128.  
  129. To display a list of abbreviations when in Char, type either . or `
  130. followed by enter.
  131.  
  132. PrintSelection - Word does not print page numbers when you select a
  133. range of paragraphs or pages for printing.  This makes it cumbersome
  134. to print an excerpt from a work in progress.
  135.  
  136. Version 2.9b of gScript includes a macro named PrintSelection which
  137. will give you several options for header format, including the ability
  138. to display page numbers, the location of the excerpt, and a short
  139. descriptive tag.  So, for instance, you might print a selection from
  140. page 30 of your script and have the header read:
