Now in to the use of AVW.
Press ALT+F and the File Menu will Pop down.
Press ALT+W and the Windows Menu will Pop down.
Press ALT+H and the Help Menu will Pop Down.
These can be closed by pressing Escape.
F10 will also access the menu at the point it was last used at.
Now that you know the basics of the menu we will begin in detail.
File Menu has the following commands.
Open... F3 Open a file. F3 is the hot key for this function.
Change Dir Changes the Directory.
DosShell Allows Temporary drop to Dos. Type EXIT to reEnter AVW.
Exit ALT+F3 Exits AVW. Hot key is ALT+F3.
The Windows Menu has the following commands.
Tile Place all open windows on the screen and Readable. Try it.
Cascade Place all open windows on the screen one before and below
the next. Try it.
Close all Is not implemented.

Zoom F5 Will Zoom the active file to the full screen.
Next F6 Makes the next window active.
Previous Shift+F6 Makes the previous window active.
Close Alt+F3 Closes the active window.
Some of the window commands have hotkeys.
The Help Menu has the following commands.
Help Some help for AVW. This file is for better.
About Tells about AVW.
In the Right Hand Corner is the Heap Manager it tells how much memory is
still available. Minimum memory remaining will be about 35,000 bytes.
the program uses that. If the heap manager is blue then memory is getting
low, if it is red you are almost out of available memory.
Please note that at the top of this window it will tell the path
and file name.
AVW has full mouse support.
Moving around in AVW.
The scrollbars at the right side of the screen and bottom of the screen
will give you details of your position in a file. A mouse click on a
scrollbar will move you to that location in the file being read.
The Arrows keys move one space or line in any direction.
PgUp and PgDn will move up or down one page in the file.
Control PgDn will move to the end of the file.
Control PgUp will move to the start of the file.
StatusLine.
The Status Line is located at the very bottom of the screen. It tells some
hotkeys and what they do, (specifically Alt-X Exit, F3 Open, Alt-F3 Close,
and F10 Menu) also at the right hand end of the status line is a Help area.
When the menu is opened or accessed by F10 this area tells what the
function does. This feature has not been implemented inside the Windows
Menu.
Memory.
Depending on how much memory your system has available you could possibly
load a file or multiple files up to a maximum of about 500,000. I believe
That this is pretty close to correct. On my system when I first start
AVW I have 504616 available and can use 470,000, my largest executable file
when I run the Dos command MEM is 598,800. So if your system is configured
in such a way as to have about 626,000 then you should have about 500,000
available for files.
I hope you enjoy AVW!
Thank you for trying it!
Sincerely,
Allyn (Lomax) Cross
