  5. WordPerfect for Windows outsells other Windows word processors

  7. NEW YORK   June 29, 1993    WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows has
  8. climbed to the top of the software best-seller charts after six
  9. months on the market. According to the most recent sales figures
  10. from software resellers and distributors, WordPerfect 5.2 for
  11. Windows is outselling Microsoft  Word for Windows and Lotus Ami
  12. Pro  for Windows.
  13.      "During the first quarter of 1993, WordPerfect for Windows
  14. accounted for 51 percent of the Windows word processing market in
  15. North America, according to an analysis of our numbers and those
  16. of the Software Publishers Association," said Ad Rietveld, senior
  17. vice president of sales and marketing at WordPerfect Corporation.
  18. "WordPerfect for Windows has captured more than a third of the
  19. Windows word processing market worldwide since its release 18
  20. months ago."
  21.      PC Research of Reston, Va. lists WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows
  22. as the number-one selling Windows business software application.
  23. PC Research tracks sales of 10 software reseller chains
  24. representing more than 1,300 stores.  WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows is also the best-selling Windows word
  25. processor for April and May, according to G. Meier, Inc. of New
  26. Jersey, whose figures represent sales through tens of thousands
  27. of resellers. The results appear in the July issue of
  28. PC/Computing magazine. Overall, WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows is
  29. the second best-selling businessware application WordPerfect 5.1
  30. for DOS tops the list.
  31.      "Our WordPerfect DOS users are finding that WordPerfect for
  32. Windows makes the easiest transition to the Windows environment,"
  33. said Rietveld.
  34.      Combined platform sales of WordPerfect (DOS, Windows,
  35. Macintosh, UNIX) top Merisel's Hot List, dated May 31, 1993. 
  36. Microsoft Word (DOS, Macintosh and Windows) ranks fifth and Ami
  37. Pro for Windows is number 10.
  38.      "WordPerfect products have consistently been at the top of
  39. our hot lists and WordPerfect for Windows is no exception," said
  40. Karen Fuller, vice president of marketing at Merisel, Inc.  "Our
  41. resellers have been actively involved in the successful rollouts
  42. of many WordPerfect products and enjoy the support they receive
  43. from WordPerfect Corporation."
  44.      In the word processing category of the Ingram Micro Best
  45. Sellers List for June, full and upgrade packages of WordPerfect
  46. for DOS and Windows occupy the top five sales positions, followed
  47. by Microsoft Word for Windows at number six.
  48.      Egghead Inc. lists WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows as the best-
  49. selling Windows word processor from April to May, ranked second
  50. only to the sales of Windows 3.1.
  51. WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows is now shipping with ExpressDocs,
  52. more than 40 custom document templates for memos, fax cover
  53. sheets, newsletters, resumes, form letters, invoices and other
  54. popular documents. WordPerfect ExpressDocs are easily 
  55. accessed from the File pull-down menu within WordPerfect. Users
  56. can use or edit any of the custom templates or create their own.
  57. A new Button Bar includes options for drop caps, watermarks, page
  58. borders and decorative paragraph breaks to help users create
  59. professional-looking documents.
  60.      Current WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows users can purchase
  61. ExpressDocs separately for a limited time for $19.95 (suggested
