!! W A R N I N G !!
DO NOT use this program on your ORIGINAL Lotus SYSTEM DISK. This program
makes NO attempt to save the contents of your original Lotus program.
TRY this utility ONLY on a COPY of your Lotus disk.
This file describes how to use 123zap to create a version of Lotus
which will execute anywhere without requiring the Original Lotus
(Key) SYSTEM DISK.
!! C A U T I O N !!
This patch applies only for Version 1A of Lotus used on the Texas
Instruments Professional Computer family
!! INCLUDING THE PRO-LITE !!
You should never use your ORIGINAL Lotus disk for any of the following
instructions. Make a copy of your original lotus "SYSTEM DISK" or
create a temporary directory on your winchester and copy the contents of
your original Lotus system disk into this directory. Once you have verified
that the patch worked, then I suggest creating a SECOND "SYSTEM DISK"
that contains the patched file. You can make as many backup copies
of this second system disk as you wish.
For peace of mind I usually prefer to try these things out on a floppy
first! So...
Use your favorite method to make a copy of your Lotus SYSTEM DISK.
Now copy the 123zap files, (123zap.bat, 123zap.dat) onto the copy you
just made. If debug.com is not in your 'path' then put a copy of it on this
disk also.
Make drive A (or whatever is appropriate) your default disk by entering the
drive letter and pressing return.
Enter the command 123zap and press <RETURN>
Your zapped program will be named 123.exe.
At this point you can run Lotus anytime anywhere.
Have fun
