  7. Below is a partial paraphrase of Scott McIntosh's DOCs for HIS
  8. program "XSNOOP".  The paragraphs below are modified to fit the style
  9. of this program "YSNOOP".  (YS.COM)

  14. YSNOOP is a security program designed to discourage people from
  15. snooping in your personal computer.  YSNOOP is based on a simple idea:
  16. because virtually any PC security program can be beaten by a determined
  17. snooper, the most effective security program is one that doesn't *look*
  18. like a security program.  YSNOOP is designed to look like DOS itself,
  19. giving snoopers the impression that they are dealing with a corrupted
  20. operating system rather than a security program.
  21.  
  22. When you activate YSNOOP, it replaces your DOS prompt with a simulated
  23. prompt.  The simulated prompt allows a user to enter commands just like
  24. the DOS prompt does.  Unlike the DOS prompt, however, the simulated
  25. prompt created by YSNOOP saves the snoopers commands in a file called
  26. YSNOOP.LOG.

  28. Further, the simulated prompt will respond to the snoopers' commands by
  29. displaying one of several error messages, like "EXEC error", or
  30. "Bad command or file name", etc...  Hopefully, when a snooper sees what
  31. looks like the DOS prompt and what look like DOS error messages, he will
  32. not realize that he has come up against a security program at all and
  33. therefore will not try to get around the program.  The way to terminate
  34. YSNOOP and restore the TRUE DOS prompt is to enter the private password
  35. that you specify when you activate YSNOOP.

  37. YSNOOP can be run from DOS any time you are going to be away from
  38. your computer.  In addition, YSNOOP can be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT
  39. file, creating an invisible password logon feature when your computer
  40. is turned on.

  42. At the command line, The syntax for YSNOOP is very simple:

  46. After the line above, you may exit YSNOOP with the password:
