QReader 3.2 Copyright 1991-1993 Yandell Computer Services
QReader provides many unique and various aspects to displaying text
to callers. It has many features such as PageUp, PageDn, and even
left and right scrolling for wide text! QReader has several very
fast text search features such as searching while reading individual
text items, or global text searches from QReader's main menu. Also
available is a text download facility which features automated file
directory maintenance.
QReader works with many types of BBS software, including PCBoard,
Wildcat!, and systems which make a DOOR.SYS door information file.
QUICK.DOC is NOT a replacement for QREADER.DOC. It allows you to
QUICKLY install QReader and locally see and test its powerful, high
quality features. You may then completely install QReader using the
detailed information contained in QREADER.DOC.
Follow these step-by-step instructions.
---------------------------------------
_____ Make a directory for QReader. It is best to call it QREADER.
It will be easier if this is a directory off the drive's root rather
than being buried under other directories.
_____ Extract QREAD32.ZIP into your \QREADER directory.
_____ Make a sub-directory off the \QREADER directory called SAMPLE.
You should now have a structure that is \QREADER\SAMPLE.
_____ Extract the contents of SAMPLE.ZIP into \QREADER\SAMPLE. The
file SAMPLE.ZIP will be in your \QREADER directory after extracting
QREAD32.ZIP there.
_____ In your \QREADER directory, run QRSETUP.EXE. Select option #1
to edit the MAIN QReader parameters. Use the F1 help key at each
question for a further explanation.
_____ Press ESC and answer Y to save the settings.
_____ Now select option #2 at the setup menu to modify TEXT config
files. Then select E to Edit a file. Then select SAMPLE.CNF by high-
lighting it with the cursor keys and pressing [ENTER]. Note there
are four parameters in the center of the screen with a drive and
locations in them (C:\QREADER\SAMPLE\.....). Make sure this drive
and locations match the drive and locations you have selected for
QREADER. If changes are needed, (such as the drive letter) make them
accordingly. Do not alter the actual file names at this time.
_____ Press PgDn at the SAMPLE.CNF edit screen. Another screen will
appear with additional parameters. Notice two more parameters with
(C:\QREADER\SAMPLE...) in them. Again make sure this information is
correct, but do not alter any file names at this time.
_____ Press ESC and answer Y to save the settings.
_____ Now select option #4 at the setup menu to run QReader locally.
Select SAMPLE.CNF again, answer Y to use color (or N for no color).
_____ If these instructions have been followed properly, you will
enter the QReader door and be able to explore it in local mode.
Remember to use "H" for help when needed, especially while reading
text in the Full Screen Reader.
