  2. What is Timeset(UK)?
  3.    Timeset(UK)  consists of a collection of programs and a telephone
  4. service (accesed via a modem).This will enable P.C's and networks to
  5. have their Time and Date set with accuracy and precision.This overcomes
  6. the inaccuracy in most P.C. clocks,the inaccuracy being due to a combination
  7. of hardware and certain applications (and users) "playing" with the clock.

  10. Why use Timeset(UK)?
  11.    The reasons for wanting to use Timeset(UK) are varied.In certain 
  12. applications it is important to maintain a high degree of clock 
  13. accuracy for example in telemetry.In other cases it is important
  14. that the date is correct for example in invoice production.Of course
  15. you could set the date & time manually but you could never be as precise
  16. as Timeset(UK) (Timeset(UK) should be accurate to 1 twentieth of a second)
  17. and more importantly setting the date and time can be error prone - It
  18. is very easy to enter 7 O'Clock pm as 17:00 for example.Don't forget
  19. that the internal clock on a normal P.C. or server is very inaccurate
  20. -it is not unknown for a P.C. clock to drift by several minutes per day.
  21. Although around 15 seconds per day is more typical.

  24. Which systems does Timeset(UK) work on?
  25.    To use Timeset(UK) you need a modem and P.C. the specifications are:
  26.    Modems - Hayes (AT) Comptatible with V.22 (1200 bps)
  27.    P.C's - MS-dos 3.3 or above with comms port and modem attatched.

  29.    The programs included will allow you to set the date & time on  
  30.    standalone P.C's under Dos(3.3 or above) or MS-Windows(3.0 or higher).

  34. How much does Timeset(UK) cost?
  35.    The core product of Timeset(UK) are supplied free of charge this being
  36.    the following programs :-
  37.    (1) Timesync
  38.    
  39.    There is a charge for other aspects of timesync :
  40.    (1) Calls to Timesync are charged at premium rates this will normally 
  41.    be under 20 pence.Please note the system will automatically cut off 
  42.    the call after 70 seconds so even a faulty modem won't prove costly.
  43.    Present charges are 48p per minute 36p per minute all other times
  44.    (peak being 8am-6pm)-these charges include VAT.These costs compare very
  45.    favourably with the costs of using a commercial timesseting program.
  46.    Calling timeset(UK) once weekly will cost you £10(less if you call off 
  47.    peak) per year, while a normal timesetting program will cost you £20-30, 
  48.    and you will incur overseas phone calls to set the time.You can use any
  49.    program commercial timeset program to call Timeset(UK) the data format
  50.    is USNO 1200 bps 8 bit 1 stop and the number is (0891)616717.

  52. What if British Time changes?
  53.    There are currently discusssions under way to change the way in which
  54.    British Summer Time (BST) operates.No change will occur until at least 
  55.    1995.If and when UK times zones change we will produce software to 
  56.    reflect any such change.

  59.    For users who want even greater accuracy the product Righttime from
  60.    Air system Technolgy in Dallas,Texas is available.This product assesses
  61.    your computers clock drift and compensates accordingly,please drop us a
