CONDIZ v 1.17 (c) Concept Systems 1993
--------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
------------
Automatic Installation.
-----------------------
After un-archiving CONDZ117.ZIP, you should have the following files
in your current or archive directory:
README .1ST
README .DOC
INSTALL .DOC
CDZ .EXE
If you're in a hurry execute INSTALL.COM and follow the screen
prompts, I recommend reading either this document or the CONDIZ.DOC
fully before installing CONDIZ. After you're familiar with what's
going to happen after you type INSTALL do it and I hope things go OK.
The installation program will ask you for a SOURCE directory, TARGET
directory and your boot drive. (By the way if you fiddle enough
you'll be able to crash any program.) Enter the correct parameters -
the program will create the target directory if one doesn't already
exist. The files will be extracted from CDZ.EXE into the target
directory and then the CONDIZ configuration utility will be executed,
complete the necessary fields (explained later in this document.)
After completing the config screen and exiting the install utility
reboot your computer and then CONDIZ is ready for use.
Manual Installation.
--------------------
The new installation procedure is vital to the correct execution of
CONDIZ I suggest reading this section if you want to run CONDIZ from a
network.
1. The way in which CONDIZ looks for its LIBRARY & UTILITY directory
has been changed as follows :
CONDIZ will first look in the current directory for it's
configuration file CONDIZ.INI. If this file is not found in the
current directory or MAPPED DRIVE, CONDIZ will then look for an
ENVIRONMENT variable names CDZ. If neither are found CONDIZ WILL
NOT WORK. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In your one of the following:
DOS - AUTOEXEC.BAT
BANYAN VINES - USER PROFILE
NOVELL - LOGIN SCRIPT
Add the following line (this is the DOS version, please convert if
need be for your operating system)
SET CDZ=[Drive]:\[Directory Name] where
Drive = The DISK, MAPPED DRIVE or SET DRIVE where CONDIZ
will find its libraries, key file and config file
Directory = The directory where CONDIZ will find its libraries
Name key file and config file.
EG: SET CDZ=U:\ARCHIVES
2. Unzip the CONDIZ archive into this directory.
3. Run CONDIZ while in this directory and from the Utilities Menu
select Configure CONDIZ.
4. Complete the fields as follows:
Line 1:
------
Your Registration Name
Line 2:
-------
Your registration number.
Line 3:
-------
Enter the full path of your CONDIZ data directory.
NB: The data directory may be called anything you wish in the new
version - please don't forget the trailing backslash.
eg: U:\CONDIZ\ ── MUST HAVE THE TRAILING BACKSLASH.
Line 4:
-------
If you wish to utilize an external editor enter the full path of the
editor that you wish to use.
eg: C:\EDIT.COM
CONDIZ will default to EDIT.COM
Line 5
If you wish to utilize an external FILE MANAGER enter the full path of
the file manager that you wish to use.
eg: C:\XTGOLD /ZS ── Command switches are recognized.
CONDIZ will default to LIST.COM
Line 6 & 7:
-----------
Path to PKZIP and ARJ
eg: C:\ZIP\ ── MUST HAVE THE TRAILING BACKSLASH, PATH
ONLY.
Line 8:
