  17. Commands, Functions & differences with bimodem v1.24.
  18. ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────

  20.   Before anything else, you must get the complete bimodem package, doing
  21. that you will obtain the complete DOCs and the rest of the support files
  22. that are not included within PAMPA package. Installation is quite
  23. simple. Just replace your old BIMODEM.COM with the new one included in
  24. this package, and you are ready to experience the most advanced protocol
  25. of the world. Also copy BIproCFG.EXE and PCV.EXE into BIMODEM's
  26. directory, and afterwards execute BIproCFG to create/setup the new
  27. configuration file for PAMPA named BIMPRO.CFG. This configuration file
  28. must be placed at BImodem's directory.

  31. New Stuff:
  32.  
  33. -Simultaneous remote/local chat capture.
  34.  
  35. -Unlike BImodem v1.24, TIMEOUT timer is reset when a 'FILE NOT FOUND'
  36. message from remote is received.
  37.  
  38. -F3: Shows disk directory.
  39.  
  40. -Timers: Up to BImodem PRO 3.1, CPS where incremented by 1.5625%.
  41. Actually, the shown CPS are the VERY REAL ones
  42. (CPS=Bytes_transferred_DIV_current_timer_value). The actual transfer
  43. time, the estimated time and time left are all represented on-screen.

  45. -F1: Help/Functions (ALT/H does not work anymore).
  46.  
  47. -/K: Command-line Switch. Starts PAMPA with the Screen Saver in Smart
  48. mode.
  49.  
  50. -/X: Command-line Switch. When PAMPA starts the screen is totally
  51. erased, and restored when session ends. There will not be any chars
  52. sorrounding BImodem's screen.
  53.  
  54. -/!: Command-line Switch. Start and Lock keyboard immediately. Remember
  55. your password to unlock PAMPA afterwards!

  58. PCV.EXE (Pampa Chat Viewer): PCV [capture archive]
  59.  
  60.   PCV is designed as a browser for viewing the captured chat. Just
  61. execute PCV and the program will show the capture file. You can specify
  62. an alternative capture file name.

  65. Functions:
  66.  
  67. -Alt-0: Activates End Of Transfer ALARM. You must press any key or wait
  68. a few seconds to finish execution.
  69.  
  70. -PgDn:  Request archives from remote (also known as download).
  71.  
  72. -PgUp:  Send archives to remote (also known as upload).
  73.  
  74. -Alt-S: Aborts transferring the current archive (SEND).
  75.  
  76. -Alt-R: Aborts transferring the current archive (RECEIVE).
  77.  
  78. -Alt-V: Always Verify the file after each transfer (Switch).
  79.  
  80. -Esc:   Press 3 times in chat mode to abort session.
  81.  
  82. -Alt-Q: Silence Mode, no sounds will be made (only fatal errors).

  84. -Alt-D: Switch from Original<->Current file date Stamp

  86. -Alt-T: Switch Time Limit Check <-> No Limit

  88. -Alt-Y: Accept<->Deny remote requests.

  104. -   F1: Shows PAMPA functions on line (HELP!).

  106. -Alt-G: Automatic remote page/chat tracking. Pressing it down once will
  107.         activate a chat tracking function. An alarm/beep will sound when
  108.         remote initiates a chat. Pressing it again will send
  109.         automatically a control-g about each ten seconds.
  110.  
  111. -Alt-K: Screen Saver for VGA monitors. Pressing it down once, Smart mode
  112.         is activated: the screen will only be shown when an event
  113.         happens (errors, file starts, etc). After a few seconds, the
  114.         screen will go blank again. Pressing it again, the screen will
  115.         be blanked until alt-K is pressed again.
  116.  
  117. -Alt-L: Keyboard Locking feature. You must setup the password in
  118.         BIprocfg.
  119.  
  120. -Alt-C: Open <-> Close capture file.
  121.  
  122. -Alt-H: Drop Carrier when transfer ends (toggle DTR).
  123.  
  124. -Alt-J: Drop Carrier if remote doesn't send files for 30 seconds (toggle
  125.         DTR).
  126.  
  127. -Alt-B: Toggle transfer size limit on <-> off.
  128.  
  129. -Alt-P: Permanent Chat Enabled. After sending/receiving files, stay online.
  130.  
  131. -   F3: Dir command. Enter the file mask. PAMPA will read and show the
  132.         directory list. You can scroll the list using the arrow keys.

  135. Differences from v1.24:
  136.  
  137. -More information regarding the transfer is shown on screen.
  138.  
  139. -The global timer starts when PAMPA receives the remote ID.
  140.  
  141. -You can extend chat after transfer, but you don't need to keep pressing
  142. a key to reset the ten seconds timer. You must only press ALT-P to use
  143. this feature.
  144.  
  145. -Total number of files and current file number counters where added and
  146. are shown on screen.
  147.  
  148. -The actual Block size is shown on screen.
  149.  
  150. -TimeOuts are set to larger values for high speed modems that need to do
  151. retrains.
  152.  
  153. -Disk Reset after ending session.
  154.  
  155. -/0|/3 New command line options.
  156.       /3: A 3 seconds alarm will sound when PAMPA ends.
  157.       /0: A permanent alarm will sound when PAMPA ends. Abort pressing a
  158.           key.

  160. -4DOS/NDos file commenting Support.

  162. -Instead of a beep, a phone-like bell will be heard when remote calls
  163. you.

  169. -Baud setting in BICONFIG is ignored. During a session actual CPS will
  170.  be calculated and shown on screen.

  176. BIprocfg.exe: Program that configures the extra options in PAMPA.
  177.               Beginning with version 3.3, the extra configuration will
  178.               be found in a file called BIMPRO.CFG. This file must
  179.               reside in the same directory where BImodem.com (PAMPA) is
  180.               located. If the file BIMPRO.CFG is not found, BIprocfg
  181.               will create a new one. Future releases will update
  182.               BIMPRO.CFG as needed.
  183.  
  184. Use:      Just execute BIprocfg. The program will search for BImodem.com
  185.           and BImpro.cfg. If BImpro.cfg is not found, a new one will be
  186.           created.
  187.  
  188.           Once inside, a main menu will be shown. You can select:
  189.  
  190.           "General CFG"
  191.           "Color CFG"
  192.           "Chat configuration"
  193.  
  194.           The program supports mouse if a driver is loaded. BIprocfg has
  195.           a built-in help accessed by pressing F1 whenever you want.

  198. Warning:
  199.           There are many temporal files that are created by PAMPA during
  200.           execution. This files are automatically deleted when session
  201.           is finished. These temporal files are related to scrollback,
  202.           directory function, etc.

  212. WHY BImodem PRO?
  213.  
  214.  The last official release was Bimodem v1.24 at 1990. On year 1992, the
  215. idea of building something like Bimodem came to me, but, I wanted to
  216. make it better, so, here it is, a Bimodem 1.24 compatible protocol, but
  217. with several features added. A protocol that's just the best. Its name
  218. is PAMPA.

  223.               The software is FREEWARE, it must be distributed in a
  224.              freely way. I should not be responsible for any problems
  225.              that PAMPA can cause you, the software is distributed in an
