MV 0.6
The File-Mover
by Cristiano Leoni
EagleSoft 1993
What it MV ?
------------
MV is a useful tool for file moving. MV is useful, fast and safe, and
much better than DOS commands combination:
COPY source dest
DEL source
Legal Notices
-------------
MV is FreeWare. You can copy it and pass it to others as long as this
README file is supplied and no fee is charged. The author does not assume
any responsability for any loss or damage of data or profit, incidental or
consequent to the use of MV.
Features of MV
--------------
* Free space lookahead: MV will look first if enough space is available on
the destination path.
* Great safety: No file will be deleted after an unsuccessful copy.
* No confirmation needed even on *.* moves (Say STOP to those boring "Are
you sure?" messages!).
* Minimum space requirements: MV will move a large amount of files even
with little space available because files are moved one by one.
* Great speed: Compare it with other similar tools!
How to use MV
-------------
1. Copy MV.EXE in your DOS directory or somewhere in your PATH.
2. Give it a try. There are no options to learn. Syntax is in COPY:
MV sourcefile [destpath [destname] ]
Notes
-----
Before copying, MV will look if there is enough space available.
Compute is intelligent: if a file should overwrite another the space held
by overwritten file will be counted as "free".
When moving files within the same disk, the space you need is the size
of the largest file you will move. Anyway, MV will consider _the sum_ of
the size of ALL files to move, and you may get a warning saying there's no
enough space available: just don't care about it and press Y to go on.
Suggestions ? Comments ?
------------------------
If you find MV useful, let me know. If you use it often, all I ask you
is to write me a nice postcard of your countryside. Comments and
suggestions are welcome.
