New in timEd/gamma 1
--------------------
* In Hudson areas you can now also use ALT-H and save the search strings
(with ALT-S).
* Implemented a key system. If you are a registered user, you should have
a key by now. Contact me (or in the USA: contact Evin Mulron) if you
have not received a key.
The keys will be crashed to all registered users as soon as this
version is released. If you didn't get one, chances are, that:
■ We have not received your registration/payment yet.
■ Your system is unreachable for some reason (modem troubles, not
listed in nodelist [German nodes!] etc.) In this case, the key might
even be waiting for you at my system...
The key is calculated over the FIRST user name found in timEd.cfg. So
check if that is OK...
Differences between registered and unregistered versions:
---------------------------------------------------------
- unregistered versions ALWAYS wait for a keystroke at the intro screen
(at startup), just like you always used the -p command line parameter.
- unregistered versions will pause for two seconds at exit, showing a
message about the opportunity to register.
- the personal mailscan doesn't work in unregistered versions.
- you can't save 'hellostrings' etc. from the ALT-H screen, nor will
previously saved strings be used anymore (!).
- you can't save 'find strings' (ALT-S from the F)ind sceen).
- highlighting of lines with a matched keyword (F)ind feature) doesn't
work.
* Changes to the *.MSG scanning code in OS/2 version.
* Added support for Fmail 0.97c (w/ JAM support)
* Fixed several problems with the internal editor (mainly concerning
'blocks' - but there were several fixes).
* Major improvement in Hudson code:
■ Several bugs fixed.
■ General speedup of the code. Especially new mail scanning and L)ist
mode speed is much, much faster!
* Changed handling of nodelist lookups in CC: mails:
When more than one match is found for a name found in the CC:'s, timEd
will NOT take the first match anymore, but will display a pop-up screen
where you can pick the right one.
* If you change a CC: message, the CC;'s will be processed once again.
* Changed quoting initials and %ffrom and %fto for usenet from / to names
(usenet == names with '@' somewhere).
* On entry of an area, the 'Bookmark' will automatically be set on the
lastread message.
* TimEd would sometimes mistake the ^AREPLYADDR kludge for a ^AREPLY
kludge, messing up the zone detection in *.MSG netmails.
* TimEd would write the ECHOMAIL/NETMAIL.JAM files to the root if no
JAMLOG path had been defined (in JAM environments).
If no JAMLOG is given, JAM areas will now be written to echotoss.log.
This is needed by some (well, at least one: Imail) tossers, that do not
support echomail/netmail.jam.
* TimEd won't place origins in local message areas anymore.
* TimEd will now display 'Type EXIT to return ... ' when in an OS shell.
* In addition to the normal 'speedsearch' feature in the Area Selection
Screen: if timEd doesn't find a match for your search string, it will
try to find the string as a substring.
This can be useful if you have areas like:
comp.os.os2.programmer
comp.os.os2.multimedia
comp.os.os2.news
Just type 'news' and timEd will find the last one listed above (unless
you also have news.answers, of course :-)
* In the internal editor, the 'row' counter is replaced by a 'line'
counter. Instead of giving the position (row) on the screen, it now
gives the position (line) within the entire text.
* The JAM personal mailscanner couldn't handle areas with more than +/-
8000 messages. It can now now handle any size.
* Fixed a bug that would corrupt the heap if you changed a message with
very large kludges (usually gated Internet mail).
* You can now 'include' other files in the configuration file
(timEd.cfg). Use the keyword 'Include <path+filename>' to include a
file. Example:
Include c:\timed\colours.cfg
As soon as timEd finds an 'Include' keyword, it will read that file.
After that it will continue with timEd.cfg.
* timEd would ignore Hudson areas in the Imail config.
* Added cursor movement in several places, to help those who use timEd
with the help of speech software/hardware.
* Rewrote JAM msgbase code. I didn't like the fact that it still used
large parts of the JAM API (very inconsistent with the rest of the
MSGAPI code I use, and lots of duplicate checks for open areas and
locks etc.), so I threw out all of that and rewote it.
I also added support to update replylinks in JAM areas, when a reply is
generated with timEd.
Due to the rewrite, the code is actually a few Kb's SMALLER, in spite
of the additions! It is also faster.
* Updated Hudson base code to update replylinks when a reply is written
with timEd.
* You can now also use ALT-J (Jump to OS) in input fields.
* You can now also use the keyword AREASBBS in timEd.cfg to read an
areas.bbs file. It will also recognize Hudson areas (ie: starting with
a number), and JAM areas (starting with: '!').
* Updated the keyboard code for DOS. Stupid BIOS stuff.
* Added 'copy current line' (F4) to editor (just like Qedit).
* Several smaller and/or cosmetic fixes/changes.
