  5. INTRODUCTION

  7. Rolodex/2 is an OS/2 2.x shareware program to store information about people,
  8. companies, etc.  I hope you enjoy it.

  13. Note: You can press CTRL-TAB, SHIFT-TAB to tab next, prev multi-line input
  14.       field.

  16. Rolodex v2.0   Software Upgrade This program is written in rexx and using
  17.                                 Watcom VX-Rexx for the GUI interface.  VX-Rexx
  18.                                 is now upto version v1.01
  19.                Faster Screens - Several screens will appear and disapear when
  20.                                 you start Rolodex/2.  I have improved the
  21.                                 speed of Rolodex2 by hiding/unhiding the
  22.                                 screens.
  23.                Search Options - You can list cards belonging to a group, or
  24.                                 search for a name, address, etc within a group.
  25.                Group Options  - Include search, print, envelops, fax, email,
  26.                                 delete.
  27.                Fax Options    - I add support to PSFAX2 fax software.  You can
  28.                                 it at your local OS/2 ftp site.  I would like
  29.                                 to add more fax software support, but I don't
  30.                                 own a fax modem or fax software.  If you would
  31.                                 like your favorite fax software added send me
  32.                                 some email and I will see what I can do.
  33.                Import Option  - You can now import fixed formated files.
  34.                Cut & Paste    - There is now a cut & paste option on the input
  35.                                 screens.
  36.                Email Option   - You can now import files into your email text.
  37.                More Fields    - There is now a mail name and title.
  38.                Buttons        - There is also Rolodex/2G which is the same
  39.                                 program but instead of text buttons it has
  40.                                 graphical buttons.  You can edit the buttons
  41.                                 with the icon editor that comes with OS/2.

  43.                Future Sugestions A version with 2 single line address field
  44.                                  instead of the 1 multi-line address field.
  45.                                  The ability to change fonts and fonts size.
  46.                Register Users - I plan to add prefix code & cover pages to
  47.                                 faxes.

  50. Rolodex v1.4   Group Options  - A person or card can belong to more than 1
  51.                                 group.  You can list, delete, print a group
  52.                                 or a combination of groups.
  53.                Print Options  - You can now print envelops. I also fix & added
  54.                                 labels to phone & notes field.
  55.                Dialing Option - Your modem can now dial work, home, fax, and
  56.                                 BBS numbers.
  57.                                 (I am looking for a simple freeware/shareware
  58.                                 fax program to incorperate into Rolodex/2.  If
  59.                                 you have any suggestions please email me.)
  60.                Export Options - You can export rolodex data in three different
  61.                                 formats.  Comma, fixed format left justified,
  62.                                 fixed format right justified.
  63.                Future Options - I plan to add a search option.  It will list
  64.                                 all the names or cards in a certain field.
  65.                                 I would like to add a simple fax program any
  66.                                 and all help would be appreciated on this.
  67.                                 Plan to add emailing files to users.

  88. SETUP

  90. Copy vrobj.dll to a directory in your libpath.  ex: c:\os2\dll
  91. Copy all other files into any directory you wish.  ex: c:\rolodex
  92. Watcom has release a new version of VX-Rexx so you must replace the
  93. old vrobj.dll from my previous version of Rolodex/2.

  95. If you plan to use the Rolodex/2G the graphical version, you must also
  96. add the path to your config.sys

  114. If you have IBM TCPIP for OS/2 you can send email and ftp from this program.
  115. I have only tested this with IBM TCPIP v1.2.1.

  117. You can send faxes if you have PSFAX2.

  120. DISTRIBUTION CONDITIONS

  122. You are free to distribute this shareware version of Rolodex/2 as long as
  123. the following conditions are met:
  124.  
  125.   1) The distributed archive must contain ONLY the files listed above.
  126.   2) The contents of this archive are NOT MODIFIED in any way.
  127.   3) This version is not to be sold.  However, a reasonable disk copying fee
  128.      is permitted.
  129.   4) This version is not to be bundled with a commercially sold package
  130.      without permission from the author.

  133. HOW TO REGISTER   
  134.  
  135. If you use Rolodex/2 for more than 15 days, you are expected to register
  136. Rolodex/2.  When you register, you will receive the latest version of
  137. Rolodex/2.  Plus information of other great products that I have created.
  138.  
  139. The registration fee is only $20 (US funds).
  140.  
  141. Updates and bug fixes are free but shipping charge may apply.
  142. Major new releases might require a small upgrade fee.  Users who register
  143. Rolodex/2 and provide an e-mail address will automatically receive
  144. updates via e-mail.
  145.  
  146. For e-mail registrations, you need to use a program called "uudecode" to
  147. decode the uuencoded file that I email to you.  For your information,
  148. a uuencoded file is a binary file that is converted to text by a program
  149. called "uuencode".  If your mail system rejects large messages, I will
  150. split the uuencoded file into smaller parts before mailing the parts to
  151. you, and you will need to edit the messages with a text editor before
  152. you can decode them.

  162. Registration of Rolodex/2 is based on personal usage.  Corporate or
  163. organizational users must register all copies used on an individual
  164. basis. A specific person must be explicitly assigned to each
  165. registrant who will be provided with a personalized copy of Rolodex/2.
  166. Registration grants a specific person (not an organization or
  167. corporate entity) the right to use Rolodex/2.  Contact me if you wish
  168. to have a sight licenses, I will work out sight licenses on a case by
  169. case matter.

  174. If you find a bug in Rolodex/2, I would appreciate it if you would inform
  175. me so I can provide better service. When you send me a bug report, include
  176. a description of the procedure for reproducing the bug and a description

  186. KNOWN BUGS
  187.  
  188. When the program starts several screens appear & disapear before.  This is
  189. done to improve preformance of the overall program.  I am looking into
  190. creating the windows at the begining without them appearing.
  191. When you select the paste option under the menu, you must have atleast
  192. one character selected.  It will not paste if you just have the cursor in a
  193. entry field with no selected text.
