  4. IBM OS/2 Extended Edition 1.3 is transformed into "Standard Edition 1.3"
  5. by virtue of installing any one of the following IBM products.

  7.     LAN Server 2.0 (Entry or Advanced)
  8.     Extended Services  1.0 - Database Manager or Communications Manager
  9.     Communications Manager/2 1.0
  10.     Database Manager/2 1.0

  12. In this case, Extended Edition Corrective Service (WRxnnnn) no longer
  13. applies to these systems.
  14. Standard Edition Service (XRxnnnn) can be used to service the
  15. base operating system functions (Kernel, Presentation Manager, etc.).

  18. SERVICE FOR EXTENDED EDITION 1.3.
  19.  
  20. WRx5200  Is a cumulative ServicePak that includes all fixes since EE 1.3
  21.          was made generally available. This ServicePak supersedes all
  22.          previous ServicePaks (CSDs).  There is one outstanding problem
  23.          in Comm Mgr that requires a change to DOSCALLS.DLL.  This fix
  24.          will be available on BBSs in the form of a Selective Fix. This
  25.          ServicePak is available in the US today, and should be in NLV
  26.          forms by June 1993. We hope to include the DOSCALLS fix in the
  27.          NLVs (National Language Versions).

  30. SERVICE FOR STANDARD EDITION 1.3

  32. XRx5150  Standard Edition fixes only.  Can cause Comm Mgr problems unless
  33.          the DOSCALLS.DLL fix (mentioned above) is applied. All NLV forms
  34.          are available.

  36. SERVICE FOR EXTENDED SERVICES - DATABASE MANAGER:
  37.  
  38. The Database Manager component of Extended Services 1.0 has available
  39. six SelectPaks.  Essentially these are pieces of what might have been a
  40. Database Manager Corrective Service Diskette, but packaged to meet
  41. customer demand for granular electronic service.  They are available on
  42. CompuServe, Internet, and OS2BBSs by the following names (or some
  43. derivative to meet naming schemes of the BBS). All supported languages
  44. are available.

  46. WRx6001   Kernel(Engine), SQLR, SQLZ, SQLQ, and SQLN fixes.
  47. WRx6002   Database Manager Pre-Compiler (SQLA).
  48. WRx6003   Database Manager Group Utilities (SQLU).
  49. WRx6004   Distributed Data Services (SQLC).
  50. WRx6014   Database Query Manager.
  51. WRx6015   Database Manager PC DOS Requester (PCDR).

  54. SERVICE FOR EXTENDED SERVICES - COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER:

  56. The Communications Manager component of Extended Services 1.0 currently
  57. has SelectPak (PTF = WR06116) on multiple BBSs.  A ServicePak is being
  58. tested and should be available in the US by mid 1993.

  60. WR06116 Is an enhancement that provides a virtual device driver that
  61.         provides EHLLAPI to Windows applications in OS/2 2.0. The
  62.         package is named EHLSP016 (sometimes EHLLSP16) on various BBBs.

  65. SERVICE FOR LAN SERVER 2.0
  66.  
  67. IP06030 Services both Entry and Advanced LAN Server 2.0. It includes
  68.         fixes for LAN Requester and DOS LAN Requester. Installation can
  69.         be done using CID services, although Domain Controllers and
  70.         Additional Servers are probably easier to update from diskette.

  72. SERVICE FOR LAN SERVER 3.0
  73.  
  74. Three SelectPaks for LAN Server 3.0 should be available in June 1993.
  75. LAN Server, LAN Requester, and DLR respectively will have separate
  76. SelectPaks.  User Profile Management 3.0 will also have a SelectPak.

  79. ServicePaks for Extended Services and LAN Services are now separate, as
  80. are the products themselves.  The OS/2 components, once included in
  81. CSDs, are no longer a part of the ES or LS ServicePaks.

  83. Hence, the OS/2 extensions are beginning to depart from the historic CSD
  84. approach with the presumption that the Base Operating System function
  85. is available at the time service is applied.  Future service will evolve
  86. toward electronic distribution, media independence (ie. non-diskette),
  87. and remote service (CID installs).

  89. Initially ServicePaks will require Bootable Standalone Service Diskettes
  90. in order to quiesce the systems to be serviced.  Users may use either the
  91. OS/2 Install Diskette(s) or create custom bootable diskettes to meet
  92. this need.  Many users already have custom bootable diskettes to perform
  93. necessary maintenance like backing up locked files or running CHKDSK /F.
