  13. This readme provides information on installing the Microsoft 
  14. LAN Manager BETA redirector and workplace shell support for 
  15. OS/2 2.0 and OS/2 2.1 workstations, using LAN Manager 2.2 disks.

  19. A.    Before you begin

  22. These are the files associated with this beta:

  38. B.    Safety first
  39. ====================================================================

  41. Now, save away your older versions of SETUP.EXE and NETWKSTA.SYS, 
  42. either installed on your hard disk, or on your LAN Manager 2.2 disks, 
  43. by copying them into a temp directory.  
  44.   
  45. Next, copy the new files onto your LAN Manager 2.2 installation 
  46. disks.  This will allow you to have the new files safe for future 
  47. installs or reinstalls.

  58. C.    If you are installing LAN Manager 2.2 from disks, 
  59.     onto your OS/2 2.x workstation
  60. ====================================================================

  62. 1. install LAN Manager 2.2 as described in the Installation Guide.
  63.  
  64. 2. to enable workplace shell support, edit CONFIG.SYS to add 
  65. the following line after "IFS=<lanroot>\NETWKSTA.SYS", 
  66. "RUN=<lanroot>\NETPROG\LMDAEMON.EXE".  So, if your lanroot is 
  67. C:\LANMAN, the lines in CONFIG.SYS should look like this:
  68.     IFS=C:\LANMAN\NETWKSTA.SYS
  69.     RUN=C:\LANMAN\NETPROG\LMDAEMON.EXE
  70. When the system comes up, a new folder, labeled "Networks" will 
  71. appear on the desktop.  The help provided with OS/2 will instruct 
  72. you on making use of the Workplace Network Shell.

  74. 3. reboot as required in the installation process.

  78. D.    If LAN Manager 2.2 is already installed on your 
  79.     OS/2 2.x workstation

  82. 1. copy SETUP.EXE into your lanroot, typically your \LANMAN directory.
  83. 2. copy NETWKSTA.SYS into your \LANMAN\NETPROG directory.

  85. If you choose not to install WorkPlace Shell support, skip to step 6.
  86. 3. copy LMDAEMON.EXE into your \LANMAN\NETPROG directory.
  87. 4. copy LMWORKER.DLL into your \LANMAN\NETLIB directory.
  88. 5. to enable workplace shell support, edit CONFIG.SYS to add the 
  89. following line after "IFS=C:\LANMAN\NETWKSTA.SYS", 
  90. "RUN=C:\LANMAN\NETPROG\LMDAEMON.EXE".  The lines in CONFIG.SYS
