  104.           The statusline is the 3D box directly below the menu. It has two 
  105.           purposes: 
  106.  
  107.           1.

  109.           Displaying the number of selected files and their bytesize, and 
  110.           displaying the total number of files in the directory and their total 
  111.           filesize. The format is like this: 
  112.  
  113.           # of selected files / total # of files       selected bytes / total

  128.           Purposes:

  130.                               - Display disk label of the current drive

  132.                               - Display free diskspace on the current drive.

  134.                               - Show which directory window is selected. The
  135.                                box above the selected window is depressed.

  137.           Switching between directory windows: 
  138.  
  139.           This can be acomplished in several ways. The easiest way is by 
  140.           clicking the right mouse button in the window you want selected. This 
  141.           also causes free diskspace and disklabel to be updated for this 
  142.           window. 
  143.  
  144.           Another way is to use the left mouse button. This does NOT cause free 
  145.           diskspace or disklabel to be updated. 
  146.  
  147.           Note:  The last method causes the file beneath the pointer to be 
  148.           selected.

  151. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.4. Directory windows ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  152.  
  153.           Directory windows: 
  154.  
  155.           The directory (dir from now on) windows are two listboxes containing 
  156.           files in the current dirs (you have two current dirs. A source and a 
  157.           target.). The selected dir automatically becomes the source and the 
  158.           other the target. Multiple files can be selected in the dir windows 
  159.           by either clicking on the files one by one or using the ALL button or 
  160.           NONE button. 
  161.  
  162.           Left mouse button double clicking: 
  163.  
  164.           The dir windows support double clicking. DirMaster will take an 
  165.           action when any of the following are double clicked: 
  166.  
  167.                               - Directories. Double clicking on one will cause DirMaster to enter
  168.                                it and display it (replacing the current dir) in the dir window.
  169.  
  170.                               - Files with the extension EXE or COM. DirMaster will try to figure
  171.                                out wheather it is a DOS, OS/2 textmode or PM program. You can
  172.                                then specify cmd line parameters in execute dialog that pops up.
  173.  
  174.                               - Files with the extention CMD. DirMaster will load the cmdline
  175.                                interpreter (CMD.EXE) and run the batch file.
  176.  
  177.                               - Files with the extention BAT or BTM. The DOS cmdline interpreter
  178.                                will be loaded and the batch file run.
  179.  
  180.                               - Files with with extensions configured in the User button configuration.
  181.                                The corresponding user function will be executed.
  182.  
  183.           Right mouse button double clicking: 
  184.  
  185.           Double clicking with the right mouse button in a dir window does a 
  186.           "parent" in that directory. The is the same as pressing the Parent 
  187.           button.

  190. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.5. Directory path boxes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  192.           Directory path boxes: 
  193.  
  194.           Path boxes (se picture below) are situated below the two dir windows. 
  195.           Their functions are to contain the path for the drive window above 
  196.           it. The boxes are automatically updated whenever a new directory is 
  197.           loaded. 
  198.  
  199.           The path boxes can also be used to change directories. Just click 
  200.           inside it, enter the desired directory (including drive) and press 
  201.           enter. If you made a mistake in the directory name DirMaster will let 
  202.           you know by writing <No directory loaded> in the label box above the 
  203.           dir window. The directory path you had typed will still be in the 
  204.           path box so you won't have to type it all over again.

  209.           The button panel is the 28 buttons at the bottom of the DirMaster 
  210.           window. They are divided into to types of buttons:

  220.           Drive buttons: 
  221.  
  222.           The four drive buttons are posisioned to the right on the button 
  223.           panel. Their function is to allow the user to quickly change between 
  224.           12 (Yes, twelve) dirs and/or drives configured in Configure - Drive 
  225.           Buttons. 
  226.  
  227.           These buttons appear like normal buttons, but are in fact not quite 
  228.           normal. Remember I said 12 and not 4 dirs and/or drives. This means 
  229.           there are 12 buttons too, but only 4 of them are visible at one time 
  230.           (Not quite room for 12 buttons, eh?). So, for those of you who know 
  231.           your math. 4 * 3 = 12. There are therefor 3 pages of buttons. 
  232.           Switching between these pages is easy. Press the right mouse button 
  233.           on any of the four drive buttons and the next page is shown. Pressing 
  234.           right mouse button on the last of the three pages takes you back to 
  235.           page one.

  242.           The function buttons consists of to types of buttons. Internal 
  243.           functions are those supplied by DirMaster (Copy, Move, Rename etc.) 
  244.           and user functions specified and configured by the user in the User 
  245.           configuration.

  247.           Just like the Drive buttons, these buttons behave a little different 
  248.           from ordinary buttons. They can each contain two functions. Double

  624.           Just like the drive buttons, these buttons respond to the right mouse 
  625.           button. In a little different way, though. Each button can have one 
  626.           or two functions. The primary function (the one you can se written on 
  627.           the button) is always activated by pressing the left mouse button on 
  628.           it. The second function (where availible) is activated by pressing 
  629.           the right mouse button on it. To see its label, hold the right mouse 
  630.           button down. If you decide that you dont want to 'press' it then, 
  631.           move the mouse pointer away from the button and release it. If you 
  632.           want to 'press' it then release the mouse button with the pointer 
  633.           above the button you pressed.

  636. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Configuration ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  637.  
  638.           Configuration: 
  639.  
  640.           The configuration of DirMaster is done in a notebok in the 
  641.           configuration dialog. The four buttons in the dialog have the 
  642.           following functions: 
  643.  
  644.           Save - Saves the new configuration to "c:\os2\DMASTER.INI". This file 
  645.           is automatically loaded at startup. 
  646.  
  647.           Use - Uses the new configuration, but does not save it do disk. 
  648.  
  649.           Load - Loads configuration from the "c:\os2\DMASTER.INI" file on 
  650.           disk. 
  651.  
  652.           Cancel - Cancels any changes you have made to the configuration, and 
  653.           uses the same configuration as before. 
  654.  
  655.  
  656. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.1. General config ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  657.  
  658.           Delete warning: 
  659.  
  660.           The configuration of delete warning gives you the control over the 
  661.           warnings DirMaster may, or may not display when you press delete. 
  662.  
  663.           o Single file - Warn the user when a single or multiple file delete 
  664.           is about to occur. 
  665.  
  666.           o Single Directory - Warn the user when a single or multiple dir 
  667.           delete is about to occur. 
  668.  
  669.           o Multiples files & directories - Warn the user when multiple file 
  670.           and/or dir delete is about to occur. 
  671.  
  672.           Note:  The Multiple files & directories warning will always be 
  673.           displayed when one (or two) of the two first checkboxes are checked. 
  674.  
  675.           Temp directory: 
  676.  
  677.           This box allows you to specify a directory where DirMaster can store 
  678.           its temporary files. They will be deleted automatically when 
  679.           DirMaster quits. The default here is "c:\". 
  680.  
  681.           Freespace display options: 
  682.  
  683.           This lets you configure how DirMaster will display the amount of free 
  684.           disk space on the current disk(s). The "Use denomination" specifies 
  685.           whether to write kb/b/MB  or not after the free space. The radio 
  686.           buttons lets you choose whether to display in bytes, kilobytes or 
  687.           megabytes.

  1030.           -It doesn't cost much! Only $20 (140NOK). No hidden costs such as 
  1031.           postage or anything. Just hand me the money and a registration key

  1033.           mentioned BBSs in How to contact the author part of the 
  1034.           documentation) or snailmail.

  1036.           -The author has put down ALOT of work on DirMaster. The author has 
  1037.           used much of his sparetime (I still attend school) programming. He 
  1038.           deserves SOMETHING, doesn't he?

  1043.           -This version (1.10) has gone through a few changes. It can no longer

  1047.           the people using DirMaster registers it, then I may be foreced to add
