Title: Creating an Envelope Paper Size/Type
Product: WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS
Number: 1204-12/93
Problem
You want to create an envelope form.
Concept
There are several types of envelopes you can create forms for.
You will need to know the width and the height of the envelope.
You will also need to know if the envelope is fed into the
printer manually (and therefore if it is fed in landscape or
portrait orientation) or if it is fed from a paper bin.
Solution
There are two methods for creating an envelope. To create the
standard 9.5" x 4.25" envelope type, use Method 1. If the
standard envelope type is already set up and you want to create a
different type, use Method 2.
Method 1
This method will create an envelope that is 9.5" x 4.25".
1 From a blank document screen press Format (Shift+F8).
2 Choose Page (2), then Paper Size (7).
3 Choose Add (2), then Envelope (5).
You are now at the Edit Paper Definition screen.
4 Choose Paper Size (1), then Envelope (5).
Before you go to step 4, you need to determine whether your
envelopes are fed landscape or portrait into your printer. Refer
to your printer manual if you do not know.
5 Choose Font Type (3). Choose either Portrait (1) or
Landscape (2).
6 Choose Location (5), then choose how your envelopes will be
fed: Continuous (1), Bin Number (2), or Manual (3).
7 Choose Prompt to Load (4), then type N to answer No.
Step 7 ensures that you will not get the Press Shift+F7, 4 to
resume printing prompt each time you print a new envelope.
8 Press Exit (F7) three times to return to the document editing
screen.
Method 2
You will need to manually enter the measurements of the envelope
to create the Envelope paper size. This example will create a
7.5" x 3.88" envelope, commonly known as the Monarch.
1 From a blank document screen press Format (Shift+F8).
2 Choose Page (2), then Paper Size (7).
3 Choose Add (2), then Other (9).
Now you need to name your paper type. You do not need to know
the specific name of the envelope type simply name it something
you will remember. If you already have a form called Envelope,
do not name this form Envelope as well. Each paper size and type
must be unique from all others.
Our example is for the Monarch paper type.
4 Type Monarch and press Enter.
You are now at the Edit Paper Definition screen.
5 Choose Paper Size (1), then Other (o).
6 Type 7.5 for Width and press Enter.
7 Type 3.88 for Height and press Enter.
Before you move to step 8, you need to determine whether your
envelopes are fed landscape or portrait into your printer.
Refer to your printer manual if you do not know.
8 Choose Font Type (3). Select either Portrait (1), or
Landscape (2).
9 Choose Location (5), then choose how your envelopes will be
fed: Continuous (1), Bin Number (2), or Manual (3).
10 Choose Prompt to Load (4), then type N to answer No.
Step 10 ensures that you will not get the Press Shift+F7, 4 to
resume printing prompt each time you print a new envelope.
11 Press Exit (F7) three times to return to the document editing
screen.
