SOFTWARE INFORMATION
--------------------
1. Suggested BBS file name:
CPX220.ZIP
2. Suggested 1-line description:
DOS resident to control shape/visibility/blinking of video cursor
3. Suggested Keywords:
DOS resident, Video cursor, Cursor control
4. Suggested Brief program Description:
Cursor control of shape/visibility/blinking.
Tiny DOS resident for SVGA/VGA/EGA/MCGA/CGA/
MDA/HGC adapters, DOS versions 2-6. Options
include UMB selfloading, and 086/286/386/486
optimized program releases.
- Release information: UnZip and enter READ.
5. Suggested long program Description:
The blinking of the cursor in text modes is controlled by the video hardware,
and there is no provision as yet for software to modify the rate of blinking.
CPx is a memory-resident program for controlling the shape of the (text-mode)
video cursor, including the use of a nonblinking cursor. The user can specify
(i) the blinking cursor shape, from a thin line to a full block, (ii) whether
a blinking cursor is to be displayed, and (iii) whether a non-blinking, block
cursor is to be displayed. Blinking and non-blinking cursors can be displayed
independently or simultaneously. The resident can be turned on and off with a
user-selectable hotkey, and modified on the fly by executing the program with
new switches from the DOS prompt (or a batch file) or via the DOS enviroment.
CPx becomes inactive in BIOS or VESA graphics modes; it also becomes inactive
if WINDOWS 3.x (Standard and 386-Enhanced mode) were started and active again
once DOS operations are resumed.
The resident occupies less than 1 KB of memory. This program can load itself
directly into a block of the upper memory (UMB) either via an extended memory
manager supporting XMS 2+ services or via MS-DOS 5+ (if UMB-linked); the user
can specify a minimum UMB address to select or avoid a given UMB region. This
program requires MS-DOS version 2 or later, or a compatible operating system,
and a video CRT controller compatible with the IBM PC standard, such as those
found in SVGA, VGA, EGA, CGA, MDA, and in HERCULES cards.
6. Program Requirements:
PC-compatible with video adapter compatible with the PC standard.
MS-DOS version 2+ or compatible operating system.
7. Registration:
$25.00 (plus $3.50 NorthAmerica, $7.00 overseas S/H).
See CPX.REG for registration form and terms.
