============================
Version 1.2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations! You are now the owner of a copy of an UNREGISTERED
version of WXFAX v1.2, THE Weather Facsimile Database Programme for
radio-listening-amateurs.
WXFAX v1.2 contains information of ALL Weather Facsimile Stations around
the world which are operational on Longwave and Shortwave.
With the registered version of WXFAX v1.2 you are able to make listings
of fax-stations in frequency, station, callsign and country order as well
as a list of addresses, an ITU country list and a list of transmissions
(both to the screen and to the printer) including some sample weather maps.
This version of WXFAX v1.2 is distributed FREE-OF CHARGE to reach the
widest possible audience though remains copyrighted material.
You are granted permission to use the programme, and to make as many
backup copies for your own purposes and for others as you want.
You are encouraged to distribute copies of this UNREGISTERED version of
WXFAX v1.2, subject to the following conditions:
1) The following files must be distributed together and unaltered:
READ.ME - This file
REGISTR.FRM - Registration form
WX-MAP.EXE - A sample weather map
WXFAX.DAT - The WXFAX datafile
WXFAX.EXE - The WXFAX programme
2) No charge is made for the software.
(A small fee for media and handling is permissible.)
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS :
Many thanks to Mr. Jim Nelson (Port Meteorological Officer, NOAA) for the
use of his 'Worldwide Marine Radiofacsimile Broadcasts Schedules'.
DISCLAIMER :
The WXFAX programme is provided without warranty of any kind.
The user of the programme assumes complete responsibility for any and all
incidental or consequential damages which may occur during normal or
abnormal use of the WXFAX programme.
Use the WXFAX programme at your own risk.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS :
An IBM-compatible AT(tm) 286, 386 or 486.
Operating system: DOS 3.0 - DOS 6.0.
A Hercules, CGA, EGA or VGA-card (required for display of the sample map *)
* SEE NOTES.
HISTORY :
Date: 1st September 1993 (WXFAX v1.0)
- Completion of the first version of WXFAX.
Date: 9th October 1993 (WXFAX v1.1)
- Use of a NEW and FASTER data converting routine to speed up the initial
data conversion.
Date: 26th October 1993 (WXFAX v1.2)
- Fixed a bug in the data sorting routine.
INSTALLATION :
Copy all the files distributed on the floppy disk to a subdirectory
on your harddisk and run WXFAX or just run the programme directly from
the floppy disk.
NOTES :
The sample map can only be displayed on a VGA or SVGA screen in a
640 * 480 resolution. Using another type of screen will result in a
message on the screen that you can't use this option.
I have tested the programme with several VGA-cards though it is very
well possible that the picture can not be displayed on some types of
of these cards.
ORDERING INFORMATION :
Registration (25 Dutch Guilders) provides you with a PERSONAL copy of the
latest version of WXFAX v1.2, customized with your name and registration,
number and without the beginning pause/UNREGISTERED notice as in the
UNREGISTERED version of WXFAX v1.2.
To register just fill in the supplied REGISTR.FRM file.
USAGE :
I will not give a full explanation about how the programme works; just run
the programme by typing WXFAX <enter> and you will see how simple it is.
====================
73's and THANKS for using WXFAX v1.2
